The way Calif hands out tickets an the price of them is NOT NEW News that was the very reason that I have never been to or plan on going to the Great state of Calif . I told one bosses that I worked for that if he sent me to California that yes I would load the load then bring the load back to the yrd and give him the keys and take my stuff out. He never asked me to . even though we were in Houston and the loads out of Exxon going to Ill had canceled so the Houston term was trying to find us somewhere to go. The dispatcher called my name and told me he had a load going to California . I told him that I didn t go to California . He laughed and told me that is what my boss had told him that I would say. Guess that he believed me after all.

All the whining about revenue generation, persecution, cash cow........
How about some reading comprehension? 55mph means exactly that. Right wrong or indifferent if your not capable of matching the corresponding number on your dash to the one on the speed limit sign you deserve every #### ticket you get. -
WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!
NEVER JUST PAY A TICKET!
Get a lawyer and FIGHT the thing because if you have a really bad accident and the ambulance chaser pulls your record they will fall on any ticket you did not fight in court! The same can happen when job hunting and your MVR is being looked at.
Lets look at it like this.
A lawyer will cost you maybe an additional $300.00
Then the ticket cost. My only speeding ticket I got in CA was 65/55 and cost (sit down please) $480.00!! That did NOT include the court cost or the on line driving school to get it expunged from the record. Yep I have NO ticket in CA on my MVR. In total it cost me $825.00 to keep my record clean.
Yeah Yeah Yeah I know I was speeding but as even their 2 driving manuals say to blend in with the traffic but it doesn't count when smokey decides he likes your truck!
At least my insurance did not go up and I still had a job with my company who does not like speeding tickets and if I had an accident the lawyer has no ammo to use.
NEVER just pay a ticket. Not we have discussed this in another thread about having a pre paid legal but why? If you are smart you have this one credit card in your wallet that will get you home in an emergency or make a payment such as this but used for nothing else. OR you have a separate savings account with maybe $2000.00 inn it that should have the title of Legal Expenses on it! Why pay a PPL when you can do exactly what they do without the monthly payments they want and with a few of them when you call them and they tell you to find a lawyer and give the PPL a call when you find him. What the hello good are they?
It's not hard at all to find a lawyer in the town where the ticket is going to. It's the information age and that information is out there OR ask the clerk of the court if they recommend a lawyer.
But never just pay a freaking moving violation. Fight it and it can get changed from some bad to something not as bad.
It will also not hurt your car insurance when they find out about it which they will! I left one insurance company for who I have now because they were going to increase my auto insurance because of a ticket I had gotten in a CMV. They lost 2 accounts. 1 auto 1 home. When you put both on the same account you get a discount. Well they lost out and Hartford won. The reason why they got me was they told me that a CMV ticket wasn't considered a car. The other companies that charge you like that are just ripping you guys off!
It's do the speed limit or take your chances!

Did you get a Lawyer for that ticket or was the fine and school the way out without one?
I have a friend that just got tagged for 61 out there and may tell Her to try that way out if it saves money for a lawyer.
She said they told Her there is no traffic school options when ticket is given in a CMV. -
your friend is correct. That option is gone in CA.

It's gone everywhere for a CDL holder despite what you were driving.
Should be gone for all classes. If speeding had real consequences like suspensions and real #### fines people might learn to read. -
I wish I was.. it wouldn't hurt my feelings if I never had to go to that pathetic state again. I could care less if they starve to death.groundpounder Thanks this.

I've been told it was gone in Missouri by three attorneys and then I still found one who gets them reduced. His theory is to never pay and never admit guilt, but then he makes money off of that too.
It depends on the violation, your attorney and the mindset of the prosecutor and the judge.
Yes, it's better to not get tickets. Still I fight them all. I haven't had one that wasn't reduced. One cost in excess of $600 but I think it's priceless.
Yes, I know some drivers are perfect but since this thread is about tickets why would you bring your perfect self in here. OH, I remember to make yourself feel good by ridiculing others!
scottied67 Thanks this.
