So, I've registered for driving school at local technical school that starts in mid-September and before it starts I have to have my CDL permit and a DOT physical.
The permit is no problem, I know how to get it, but the DOT physical is a bit confusing. Is it a basic physical I can get at any doctor's office, my GP for example or do I need to look a DOT certified MD up in the phonebook or something?
Also, the said I didn't need a drug test, that they would do it in school. Seems kind of weird I guess that I have to get the physical on my own, but not the drug test before they let us start driving the trucks in school. Should I just go ahead and get the drug test or do they want to do it to make sure your own MD doesn't "fix it" so you pass?
Thanks all.

Your own physician could possibly do the physical with the forms that the have at most state's DMV. You may have to ask for one. Most "walk in" clinics do a lot of DOT physicals and they are reasonably priced -
Have fun taking it up and down those mountains between you and Chattanooga. -
Good points. Looking forward to the mountain driving, is it tough?
