Bus, period, meaning ANY bus. That has already been posted.

And just because you CAN put a recap on the front of a truck, doesn't mean you SHOULD. It's just plain stupid, and cheap.

You can legally marry your cousin in most states... doesn't mean you SHOULD.

well bull dog why don't you put them recaps on YOUR steers. tell us how safe you feel. even if stastics show that something like 80% of tire failers i.e. blow outs happen to virgin tires and are caused from under inflated tires. I drive a log truck and the company wont put a recap on the steering. oh yea with the recap on pull thru a scale in any state for a D.O.T inspection see how far you go after they see it.

ok his way of getting new tires probably wasn't the best but I do not in any way fault him for him wanting to feel safe. Or be safe on the road. I wont put a recap anywhere on my truck or trailer. I have had to fix way to much stuff when one comes apart. It is not cost effective in my book

Better check again. School buses in Ky can run recaps on the drives.

Didn't say a word about recaps on the drives... talking about the steers.

There is nothing illegal about running recaps on the steers of a freight hauling truck....so why would you think the DOT would have a problem with it? Which regulation would they cite if they wanted to try writing you up for it?

I run recaps on my drives....however, they are my own casings, which I bought new as virgins. The ONLY truck they have ever been on is my own. They are Michelin tires, sent back to a Michelin facility, to have Michelin treads wrapped around them. The tire I get back is JUST as reliable as it was as a virgin.

If I ever have a problem with a steer tire, I wouldn't think twice about pulling a drive tire (even a recapped one) off to move up to the steer position in order to get my truck off the side of the road and to a tire shop where I could buy another steer tire. A tire is a tire, as long as it holds air, has sufficient tread depth, and has the necessary weight rating, it doesn't matter to me if it's a virgin or one of my own casings that has been retreaded.
