Thank you for the tips folks. I hope that no one thought that I was trying to ask for how to do this the wrong way, I am just trying to get a better understanding of how to use the time with the log book is all. I am sure over time it will all come together too.

Can someone confirm this? I spoke with requiter and I want to go 14/7 The way they explained it is on your start day if the truck is not back they just give you another truck, makes sense to me as I am sure you do not always get back at the end of your 14. or do they really stick to the 14/7. I plan on mid August start. Just got my CDL and Roehl seems like a good starter company. Also she stated ALL trucks have apu which is very hard to believe.

The hometime fleets 14/7, 7/7 and so on all do stick to a pretty tight schedule, because there are not always empty trucks available for you to take off with if your partner is not back. As far as the APU thing goes, alot of the trucks do have them, it is pretty much the older trucks that don't, and they should be on the way out. Roehl is a good starter company, good luck, and be safe.

Nice to know, I was trying to figure out how a 21 year old had four years of otr experience. It's my understanding you can get a cdl at 18, but can only drive within your state's borders.

I don't know about other drivers in other companies, but among us at Roehl we tend to see ourselves as drivers, whether we are o/o, home-time, national, regional, flatbed, or reefer. It's kind of nice to be able to find out about the other divisions especially if someone is thinking about making a change.

Sometimes it is hard to find out what is going on in our own company. This has been my only real link to our drivers while off, other than a couple of students that call me here and there... I pray everyday for protection for all of our drivers, and I miss being out on the road.

I was on 7/4 7/3 out of memphis and I was always home by the 7th day, sometimes the 6th, and I was the only one in the truck never had to slip seat, only places where you would be put in
another truck are the main terminals, don't usually have extra trucks at the drop yards and such

That sometimes happens when they don't have anyone to share. There was a 7/7 driver out of Oak Creek, had the truck to himself for over a year. The hometime fleets are great if that is your priority, but it is nice to be able to stay out and make some extra cash when you need it.
