Well I would like to hear, what you folks have to say, I have narrowed it down to these 3 for myself.

    Company's-Reefer

    Shaffer-
    Knight-
    Davis-(out of FL>).

Will make my decision next week.

Would like to hear from the people in the field, what say you. Who would you go with and why?

    Here's some of my History

    CDL 1997
    Reefer
    Flat
    Oversize

    Clean MVR
    History very good

    Thanks

Just wondering but how far into Florida are you? I would like to follow this to help a few other folks from CDL School that are having a difficult time looking for a company in Florida to drive for.

I don't know much about Davis but I would take Shaffer over Knight I don't recall ever hearing or reading on this site anything good about Knight..

Based on what I've seen Shaffer has plenty of freight so you *should* keep moving....

Look into Nestle also when I was leased there back in the 90's they ran a lot into Florida I almost wanna say Lakeland area but its been a while..

Shaffer/Crete, the same operation. I've noticed their trucks say Crete/Shaffer on the door now. Davis will keep you close to home, since you live in Fl. BTW, it's not what company you choose, it's what company chooses you.

    CLEARWATER, JUST WEST OF TAMPA.

I also have a contract mail job that I could take -part-time, 2 days a week plus fill in. This is what a clean LIC and a clean DAC will do for ya. These were my first four apps that I submitted. Company I worked for was bought out and shut down. So I took some time off for a change, ready to go back now.

Really do want the feed-back from you folks, because when I work for some-one its for a while, I do not like to job-hop.

    Thanks

I agree, they have all gone threw the safety checks and Dac, and Mvr etc.

All three are ready to put me in a truck with just a 2 day orientation, of course you still have the dot psychical and test drive, but that's about it.

    Thanks for the reply!

I deliver to publix in Dacula,Ga. Quite a bit and have talked to some Davis drivers and all seemed happy with them. They stay close to home and the equipment and pay are good. On the down side there yard is in lake city. But shaffer has a yard in deland which is 30 minutes west of daytona.

Yep, Davis Trucking is out of Starkey FL>, they have and option of doing 7 on and 2 off. They say they run 80% FL and GA, then a little bit AL, SC, NC and TN.

They also have APU's on there Truck's, Just haven't heard to much about them, from what I can see they have about 250 trucks. They also have a yard in Lakeland FL>

    Thanks for the reply.

With Davis you're going to do a lot of night running, they haul a lot of Publix freight. The one negative that I see is that you have to take the truck to their yard, either lakeland/starke when you're on hometime if you're within a 150 mile radius, to me that's a pain in the butt. I don't work for them, but like you I've spoken to them and some of their drivers, the pay is good but I think a big chunk of it is per-diem, depending on what kind of running you want to do they're probably a good choice, consistent hometime which is always nice.
