Hey, I am going to be starting IITR truck school on the 11th. I am really liking what I am seeing with May and the folks that I have been reading on these forums. Seems like a nice little family. I am wondering when the best time would be to submit my application. I called the Brooks recruiting line and left a message, but did not get a call backI don't want to apply to early and have it ignored, but I don't want to be waiting to long after I get done with the school to hear back with some happy news.
Also I am wondering, since I can't remember; is an overweight ticket a moving violation? And how will that affect my chances of being hired? The company I currently work for has an old rent a wreck that the office geniuses registered for it's tare weight and then sent me through a scale with a small load on. My first and only ticket in my life. Been driving class "B" for about 7 years without any problems then get a ticket in a truck that you don't even need a CDL to drive but can't defer because I have a CDL. Gotta love it.
Anyways thanks for any help you guys can give. Perhaps I will be out there in a couple of months in a May truck and not in one of those other starter company trucks. (shudders at the thought)
Regards,

An overweight ticket is a moving violation but will not affect your MVR for qualification purposes with MTC. Which IITR are you going to be going to? I will be visiting Clackamas, Albany and Creswell throughout the month. You will want to submit an online application about two weeks into school and I guarantee a Recruiter will call you. -
Hireguy, judging by your post I am assuming you are involved with May in the office. I think it would be great if we had someone from the office on here helping answering questions prospective new hires have.

First off thanks for the response. I am starting at the Clackamas location on Monday. I should have all of my permit testing done at the start of the class and am getting physical and drug screen tomorrow afternoon.

If your going with May, have your backing together. They have very high standards.

Good luck with May. Company you should do fine with, but I wouldn't recommend their lease purchase program. That did it in for me.

I don't know near enough about this industry to look at that as an option. Thanks for the advice though.
