I see about one PRIME truck a day on highway 71 in Missouri. the other day I was in KCMO and I saw three. I was wondering how often do drivers come though this area? I am thinking that it should make it somewhat reasonable for me to make my "monthly" trips home if PRIME trucks occasionally come through this way.
I have wanted to run into one to actually talk to but I never see any PRIME trucks at the Flying J in Peculiar or pulled over on the side of the road at the typical stopping "on ramps".

Well I find that peculiar in itself!

*just couldn't resist the obvious!*FresnoKen Thanks this. -
I travel 71 alot and I see Prime trucks up and down that stretch a lot too, just keep your eyes open. However that being said most dont run their cb's so its rare to get one to talk to you on the radio. As for looking for one on a ramp, that is illegal for one(I know lots of trucks do it but it is illegal nonetheless) so Prime trucks most likely will rarely be seen there. Try going into a truckstop around 4-7pm when lots of guys come in to avoid rush hour and grab something to eat etc. Then again about 9 on til early morning trucks will begin to park for the evening and you will see some more then. I have never been in a major truckstop that I didnt see at leasat one Prime truck in it at night.

Prime HQ is in Springfield, MO

I've run 71. You might not see a lot of our trucks in there due to being so close to HQ, they just truck on into the terminal in Springfield. I've never seen a PRIME truck parked on a ramp.

Thats funny. I see almost as many Prime trucks at the truckstops in Strafford just a few miles from the terminal as I do at the terminal itself.

I've taken a HOS break there before...
Bobtail parking at the terminal can fill up quite quickly - especially around the weekends. Heading up to the TA is one way of dealing with it. -
Does get slightly crowded at the terminal. Lol I've only had to drive in three times, all three times with a load so I just drove over to drop the trailer or something. Only time I've been on 71 was when we were leaving out of Noel, at least while I was driving. Been on it while my trainer was driving also.

The US71 corredor is Missouri's part of the I49 project - already complete from the Gulf Coast up to Shreveport. It will eventually connect to the new intermodal facility in Kansas City near the airport. I540 from Bentonville AR down to Ft. Smith is part of it as well IIRC.Roadmedic Thanks this.
