The only problem with taking walks from truck stops, or shippers/receivers, is that you often don't know your surroundings, and you could be walking in a place where you have no business walking.

I think it is a good idea to walk, but think about where you are before you just take off.

You should also not eat and then go to sleep. Alot of people eat those big meals and then crawl in the sleeper and sleep it off, well, it doesn't go anywhere, if they would just look at their hips/stomach they'd see it!

Actually, it's a myth that the food stays with us just because we lay down. I've been a dieter most of my adult life. When I have written down every single bite that goes in my mouth, measure or weigh everything I eat and control the percentage of protien, carbs, and fats down to the last inth.. I not only lose weight but I can eat any time day or night. I've seen it work many times. The key is saving enough calories to be able to have that bed time snack.

Where I fall down, and where most people fall down is not realizing or just ignoring the calories that go into snacks. I know I get tired of writing things down and weighing and measuring. It's so easy to put it on and so hard to take it off.

Take a small box of chocolate that is designed to be one serving size. It may say that it's 300 calories and I may think I have 300 calories left in my days alotment. But, the fat may top out at 22 grams or more for that one little box of chocolate. I may not have that much fat left for the day.

Where truck drivers probably fall down the most is what they are snacking on going down the road.

The last big trip that I took I found myself so sleepy that I needed to stop every single town or rest stop to walk around and splash cold water on my face. One of the times I stopped I just thought that maybe I would give myself a sugar high for the last hour of the trip. I bought a bunch of chocolate and ate it the rest of the way home.

I know that if I do get to go out on the road I am going to have to learn some better strategies for staying alert.
