The only issue from the last update is that sometimes the file for the Truck stops does not download. Rand is looking into this issue, in the mean time I do have a work around.

    Thanks,
    Mark

True the customs fees are high for this type of shipping, but it is how they code the item.

Let me forward this to the department that handles this and see if they can start to offer another means of shipping to Canada.

    Thanks,
    Mark

"i got the unit open and got it out.".

This voided any type of return to customer support for a replacement.

Everyone, if you have an hardware issue, please do not take the TND apart as this will make any type of return more difficult.

    Whatalife - contact me.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Did we forget about the issuse of the unit routeing trucks around 13' 6" tunnels and bridges? I dropped it down to 13" 5", under protest. Will see monday if that made a different on I376:biggrin_2556:

No, Rand knows of this issue in a few area's. We are working on it in a Beta Version. That is a work around for right now.

If it does route you correctly when you drop to 13'5" then let me know that area.

    Thanks,
    mark

I just bought a new 710. I didn't see anything on the quick start guide about charging the unit with the wall charger or 12v charger first, so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone and do the updates and leave the unit plugged into the computer for two hours.

When I get the Dock installed (and the updates installed) I see that you need to use the wall or 12v charger. So I switch.

I start to enter address while the unit is charging. When that's done I start playing around with the preferences.

Somewhere during all of that I try to turn the unit off. Now it's stuck on the Power Off screen. Nothing I do seems to make a difference.

Do I have a brick? (It wasn't really $500. I'm just rounding up slightly.)

    Additional Info:

I THOUGHT I was hitting the reset button using a pen. I wasn't. When I used a paper clip the unit did reset. So now I have plugged it into the wall charger and will leave it until the unit shows a green light, or at least for a couple of hours.

The unit seems to have a very slow processor. That's disappointing considering the price and the processors available today. (And the 710 is supposed to be faster than the 700!)

I would suggest that the quick start guide include the information that the unit needs to be charged with the wall unit or the 12v cable. I didn't know that a computer usb port doesn't supply enough voltage for the task. Hopefully I haven't screwed up the battery too much. I do follow the instructions, if the instructions are given.

I hope the until will work as advertised from here on out.
