Well I got back on the truck 7/17. I was off the truck from 7/1, my family went to Hungary. Had a great time, I have never been there before. My father was born there. Anyway we picked up a load in Lawrence,Ma for Belcamp,Md. Delivered are load and set there for a few hours, and then went and found a truck stop to sit at. Just when we got to the truck stop I got a phone call to do a repower at the Pilot in Hagerstown,Md to deliver in Nh. Delivered this AM and now we are sitting at a TA. What happened to the work? I have my son with us also for a month. I hope things turn around here soon.

 

well finished second day of orientation, so far so good. wow long days watching videos but we are told we are ahead of schedule. hope we get hired tomorrow, all signs leaning towards good news but you never know. if any one gets to markham look us up. drive safe

 

it says in the book that came for it, it's to give the driver time to react if theres gonna be a crash,even when you've got cruise set it will back the fuel back when you get a certain distance but it leaves cruise on and picks back up when its a safe distance, but by then its taken all your power, and the days of actually getting a run on someone to make a pass are over with this devise, and even with this thing with cruise set it kinda acts like your jake going down hill, really aggravating...im not a speed demon, but if i need to get a little extra to get up the next hill,which you often do need it, id like to be able to get it...

 

How does it treat you on steep inclines, like Donner Pass? I'd hate to have a 40,000 lb load and get stuck behind a 79,000 lb load, just because the OnGuad wouldn't let you build up some steam before pulling out to pass.

 

Folks, the OnGuard System will only adjust your speed and power if you have the cruise control set. When you are going down a hill with the cruise on, it will only slow you down (using the brakes and jake) if there is a vehicle ahead of you less than 300 feet away. It is an intelligent cruise control that will adjust your speed to match the vehicle in front of you. With the cruise set, the only time it will beep is if it senses an immanent crash (often a phantom immanent crash)

If you want to access all of that awesome governed power to get up a hill, turn the cruise off.
If the cruise is off, the only thing the system will ever do is drive you insane as it beeps. It will not adjust power or hit the brakes.

 

it's close to the old smart cruise they had back in 06

but smart cruise didn't do anything with the brakes just used the jakes and fuel

if you were going up a hill and the truck infront of you was slower you could override it by putting your foot to the floor.....
