cody i put or 8785 injectors & 199119 turbo on like u said and the egt run way too hot 1150 & 15 psi boost changed back to old turbo and egt went down to 900 and boost went up to 25 no fuel changes. my old turbo is a 6166 with 72 cold side & 1.41 on hot side it quits @ 1700 rpm. the new turbo 199119 changed to 178063 the cold side is 72 & hot side is 1.72 what do you think the problem is? that seems too lo on cold and too high on the hot side

What did the smoke out of the stack look like, was there any? Here is the point where you are going to have to add fuel via the screws to get that turbo to work right. Sounds to me like it is running very lean and needs more fuel, start by backing the screws out three turn at first and make sure you do both of them equally.

Did you back it down before putting your old turbo back on, or before. It sounds like you are going to have to advance the timing a little, that will help cool your egts off. I'm still not sure what is causing the low boost situation though.

For an article about how to do your timing, check over on the diesel garage, there is a good write up about it.

no i didnot turn the fuel down after i put the old turbo back on. smoked all the way through 1900 rpm with the new turbo and not with the old 1 only at low rpm. the timing is 14.5 @ 1000 & 24 full adv

I can't see the exhaust housing making that big of difference, it almost sounds like you may of had a leak with the 199119. How does it run with the new injectors and the old turbo, and can you run it this way.

Let me talk to a guy and see what he thinks, I will get back with you soon.

thanks cody i pressured up the cac no leak. the cold pressure side on the new turbo was .500 bigger than the old had to machine a bushing put 2 orings on it. it runs about the same as the old inj. yes i can run it. the fuel screws are 6 rounds in from max. the 199119 just got so hot with no boost but make more power

In the mean time why don't you try and find the outlet elbow that fits that new turbo, even with your bushing it still may have been loosing air, I have a 90* elbow that will fit that turbo, if that's the style you need PM me and I will send it to you.
