Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Might as well trip plan 2 hours a day in there somewhere... for all the inspections.
-
I'm quite sure this will be a one shot poster.

Read post 8 and 9. They have some helpful information.
Here is a link: http://ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/SMS/Data/Search.aspx.
For more information Google CSA 2010 FMCSA.
Hey numbers, if I get this wrong come in and correct me. I've been out for several years and things are changing rapidly.
Companies are rated on a scale of 0 100, one hundred being the worst. The present system was put in place in 2010. It goes back two years to get its data. Every infraction has a point value. You will have to do some research if you want to learn what the points are for the infractions.
If I understand correctly both the company and the driver get points for infractions. Even if the company gets rid of the driver, they still keep the points for two years. For the driver I think the points work like the Missouri point system always has. If I understand correctly the first year they are reduced by 1/3, the second year reduced by 1/2 and the third year reduced to zero.
I guess a bad score is a relative thing. Very few larger companies I have checked have less than 40 in two or three categories. Some of the smaller companies I have checked are in the 20s. Above 50 raises my eyebrows. When they are red, they are flagged for intervention. IMHO, any company with 90s is having every truck inspected at every scale crossing. In addition, I imagine they are having on-site inspections at least every quarter. I imagine any company with red numbers is having most of their trucks inspected.
Dont depend on my lame description. Do some research for accurate information.
Finally, as a driver, we have a tool to evaluate the carriers like they have done us for years.

I'll bet you're right. He's probably more accustomed to dealing with the Craig's List crowd. -
My post number 14 was for you but I forgot to quote you. I hope it helps but I'm no expert. I'm just a spurt. -
I am owner operator and not a recruiter for this company, just got new trucks and looking for the drivers. To say truth, i've never checked FMCSA numbers of the company, but in 7 month that i've worked for them never had a single inspection.
Considering pay rate, have to see the driver and see how he is doing. Like you said you are informed and exp drivers here, so you know each person is different and some with 1 year of exp will do better than others with 3 years. -
"but in 7 month that i've worked for them never had a single inspection"
Learned how to get around all the scales, right? -
I intentionally set my pay question up so it wouldn't be sidestepped and still you did. That tells me what I needed to know.
If you can't post pay, you probably have nothing for this crowd. If you can't accept responsibility for those horrible numbers and tell us what action you are taking, you probably have nothing for this crowd.
With all due respect, your ad will probably do better on the cesspool known as Craig's List. We have a few new members a week come here to find out what to do after they have responded to similar ads.Last edited: Jul 20, 2011
