Ya. Hopefully we'll do something new. Cause the 7 hours in the heat doing pretrips (with no instructors most the time, I learned everything today from another psd) is getting old. A lot of students just stopped coming out because they were so pissed off about it.

Not to mention instructors don't want us passing out pretrip before anyway because they lose the bonus on that.

Regardless, I'll keep going out. Doesn't hurt to soak up information. And it's something to do as opposed to sitting in my room all day.

Ha thanks. Ya, they are a bit more difficult to find then I thought they would. None of them come out to the pad because of the heat so you just have to get lucky and meet one.

One good thing for Prime though, does seem like they are trying to find us instructors. I've seen people getting introduced by the cdl people out there.

Hopefully I won't have to wait much longer. Getting anxious to get out on the road. :yes2557:

    Welcome to trucking.

Some of y'all have experienced interest in flatbedding. You're going to enjoy tarping a load in 120-degree heat.

Nothin' like chaining up in -10 and a 50mph wind.

Don't forget, you REALLY need to check the air pressure on those cold mornings after driving on a nice warm autumn day.

As Blackw900 says... "Trucking... it's not for sissy's."

The exact reason I'll be out there in the morning.

Yes it's a pain in the ###, but if it gets me where I want to be. I'll do it.

As I said before. The only thing I really dislike is that all they do is hand us a truck and say do pretrips and thats all we do. I really want to spend time working on my shifting and other things.

I thought Prime had a like a 3 day training program and then you were in a truck with an OTR Trainer? How long will you be gone from home working for Prime?

Train on site 4 days - Obtain permit.
Drive on the road 3-4 weeks with a CDL instructor.
Return, pass Skills Test - Obtain Class A CDL.
Team with a trainer for 4-6 months with guaranteed pay.
NO COST TO YOU IF YOU STAY 1 YEAR!
$1750 if you stay 6 months.

Is this how it really works?

I spoke with my recruiter today and she told me that now students have to pass the pretrip before they can even go out with an instructor for 75-100 hours. Have you heard about this change while there?

Are you going to take it? I may take it to get it out of the way since I can be practicing while I'm sitting here waiting to leave on the 31st.

Cut that in half... you only have to do 30,000 miles with a trainer now. Add a final upgrade test and classes after training... a couple of days before you get your truck.

IP, how long do you think it would take for a trainee to do 30,000 miles? And is that 30,000 miles for the truck or 30,000 miles of the trainee driving?
