What dummy would switch from practical mileage pay to HHG?

I hear ya, that's the conundrum. But regardless of pay option I would get there as soon as possible, my driving route wouldn't change.

 

Yeah but here's the thing. They are both to zipcodes and both truck routing. So i'm thinking(scary thing isn't it) that though some routes may pay less most would pay $10-$25 more depending on length of trip. I really don't know but I think I may switch in the next week or so if I can't prove its a bad move knowing I can switch back. I have a lot of data compiled on all my routes under practical so im sure will run many of the same and then ill have real data to compare. Of course it be nice to just sit at pc and run software scenarios but as of yet I haven't run across any free trial stuff.

Here's what got me thinking on this: ever been in atlanta at final and get dispatched on another load and paid PRACTICAL empty is Zero. That's cause your in the same zipcode not the same address.

As for the second part I fully expect less paid miles on EVERY dispatch. But if my calculations are right(who knows at this point) I would expect to get 3% less paid miles but paid 6% more$ on those miles hence earning a few bucks more on every trip. Hey ain't gonna get rich or go broke on either but im not one to turn down an extra few bucks a week either.

 

Was just thinking about the" land mass" question ans think it went over my head at the time. Zipcodes routing is from postoffice to postoffice. Basically the center of zipcode no matter how big. Now if you drive from customer on far east side to final on far west side of their zipcode you drove a lot more than farwest to far east.

I used to think this was the consideration of pm vs hhg but I learned today I was thinking/told wrong. Concept is same as scenario for both as above example just do u get paid shortest route or fastest route. Of course being paid by mile u always drive the fastest route.

Really appreciate the conversation, like I said lots of factors but comes out pretty close in end.

 

Well, made the change but wiring on response to findout when its effective. In a couple weeks to a month I should have" some" data to compare of routes I've run in past 8 mos. If anyones interested ill post what I find out.

 

Will do guys. I was told today that it'll probably take effect next week instead of this and got home time week after that so it'll most likely be a month before I have a handful of comparisons but I will be doing the comparisons for my own benefit and will post the facts as they present themselves.
