Also, I ordered an RT, but 4th and 5th are that goofy backwards "high against the dash" pattern. I though that was just in the RTO's and RTX's. Did they send me the wrong tranny or did some RT's also have that pattern?
Transmission stuck in low. Need help ASAP!

Just drain the tranny and pull the four 1/4 inch bolts on the splitter cover on the lower left and pull it off the only thing you have to make sure when putting it back together to put the small o ring back in for the air passage. The top one I think has 5/16 bolts and just comes right off. The one for the splitter can be completely diss asembled except
For the shift fork but the top one you can't get the piston housing off unless u take the back
Half off. All of the info I stated is for a rtlo. I am not sure if it will apply to your tranny 100% -
Took the tranny back out and took it to my mechanic. He took the back box of and it seems the valve was only pushing the piston part way. That's why I heard the clunk when I split to high, but it wasn't pushing it far enough to engauge. Now we just need to know how to properly identify it without a tag. I do not want an O.D. trans.

rt is direct rto is over drive with high gear up and rtx is corrected shift pattern the best i remember rtlo is overdrive with deep reduction

if high gear is against the dash it is an overdrive

O.K. so apparently I have an RT with an RTX top cover, so it is a direct, but has the high hole against the dash. Today is the first time I was able to drive it in the high side. It seems that when I flip the splitter up and go over to 6th, it is the same ratio as 5th. I seem to go about the same speed and RPM in both gears. Any ideas what the deal is? It's almost like the "hidden gear" in a 13 and 18 in how it it close to the same ratio. This is "supposed" to be a 15 though so I'm not sure what it is. Would the RTX cover cause an issue?

Sounds like one of those goofy 9 spds. Whatever it is something don't sound right. If its a 15/10 then 5th and 6th would definitely be different.

I don't know. It's irritating me though. Almost seems like an 8LL but I am not at all familiar with those. Wishing I would have bought something else.
-
they call it a 15 but you are in deep reduction say 4th gear when you flip the button you go to 2ed or 3rd then it shifts straight all the way to 15.

I have a some what similar problem. I have an 8LL that will come out of high side when under light load, and if I let off of the pedal, it will go back in. It stays in when under load and seems to only happen when in 8th. Is this an air or syncro problem?
