Starting out for rookies

Actually, that is what I will be doing. I have friend with a power unit and I will rent a 53' trailer from Ryder. Him being a 40 year owner operator I am sure he can help. He said he will work with all day until I get it. On top of other things as well. So, now I'm excited.

 

I do have a friend (40 years O/O) that is going to let me use his power unit and I will rent a trailer from Ryder for $30. He's a good, understanding and is more than will to help. Thanks for the tip.

No prob....as you see I stole that line from another TTR member!

It made me laugh too--sad thing is it's REALLY TRUE!!

 

It's partly my fault because I didn't research how little .30 cpm works out to even in the best conditions. If I get perfect runs where I'm rolling all day I can run 450-470 miles a day. So lets say I do nothing but 900 mile two day trips. That's $135 a day (for FOURTEEN hour days!!!) Now add in those crappy NYC, North Jersey and Philly runs where I can only turn 130 miles a day and my paycheck is absolutely pitifull.

The biggest slap in the face is my girlfriends 20 year old son working part time at some knick-knack store at the local mall. He brings home bigger paychecks than me PART TIME. I'm putting in over 84 hours a week.

 

Arnt your trucks governed at 62mph?? you should be able to run 660 legaly in a day...I do 700+ all the time

we also start at .25cpm and a new driver here will gross between $40k-$45k their first year. CPM isnt always the most important thing
