Anyone ever pay the $2000 for two weeks of school up-front just to get their Class A? I have some money saved and do not want to finance. I was thinking of getting my CDL and working for a local construction company. I live in an area that does not offer local CDL training such as a community college and I am thinking of heading to Mira Loma, CA for two weeks to get the license and not work for CRE. Advice and has anyone taken this route??

No personal experience wiith what you're asking, but you might want to ask your future company if they will accept Englands school as acceptable training.

for that money you can goto a coummity college. be prepared to have the lease purchase option thrown in your face when your out with a trainer!! and the reqruiter told me if i did do the lease purchase id'e make more money they pay me so much and i pay them so much and pocket the rest. sorry to me it's just them trying to move frieght cheap and i don't like to team.

I only bring it up bc there are no cdl schools in Monterey and I do not own a car. I just wanna get the class a and get out.

There are better starter compinies. Swift comes to mind. I have never been to CRE for anything, but never have I found anything good about them.

Yea but I don't plan on going Otr and swift doesn't offer a cdl course without an obligation. I plan on driving for a local double belly dump truck company

Have you confirmed that company will hire you straight out of school? Most of those type of companies want you to have some experience first. If they will then you should look to truck schools that are a bit closer to home. I know there are schools in Salinas and Santa Cruz area. They might cost a bit more but if you put some cash down up front they'll usually finance the balance.

Where in salinas I can't find any

When I googled Monterey CA truck school Coastal Trucking Institute came up. 11 W. Lauel Dr Ste 251. I think there are a bunch in the bay area too although the commute to an from school might suck it would only be for a month so you might look into those too.

Straight out of school???? Good luck with that.
