omg this is a thread for the history books. someone send lahood a link so he can see what kind of drivers he is bringing to the business with all his new rules kicked the old timers to the curb. LOL
All serious here: Just go buy a fat bag of weed, a box of swishers, turn on some ice cube from 1990 and forget about trucking while you have a chance. LOL Once your in you done for if you pee one time dirty. Just once and it will follow you for ever. Not saying you cant do it. Just saying you sound like youd be better off at home doing a different job.

Congrats but a piece of advice. Don't count them. Approach this as a decision that you have made. That is the simple little fact all those programs leave out. That individual decision is all that is relevant. All the days you count can be negated by a single puff, so IMO treat this as a decision. You either smoke weed or you do not.

OK count up to 90 or 120 so your clean when the test comes up but other than that.

Until it doesn't. Then what are you going to do?

You'll need to have a way to deal with those tough days, the days that feel like everyone and everything is stacked against you. The days when the easiest thing is to just do what you've always done... c'mon, just one little joint won't hurt, right?

And that's it, your hopes and aspirations... what you were hoping was going to be a career, a new beginning... trashed. Done. Kaput. Finished.

Have a plan, have a program, have something in hand to deal with those days, because if you don't...

Wow... I've never seen so many negative posts in my life, clearly from people who simply do not understand what it is to climb into a whole different mentality of life. I have smoked pot from the age of 16 till I was 30, several times a day, everyday. I wanted to do some things differently in life and knew that pot was going to hold me back big time. The first thing I did was change my surroundings meaning, I had to ditch the people I hung out with, threw away my bong and pile collection and start a healthy food plan. These people on here who are telling you to forget it are probably people who failed miserably in their past one time of another. I had also done some harder drugs along the way as well.#

Since I quit over 20 years ago I have earned two black belts in two styles of martial arts, joined the Navy and honorable discharged as a combat photographer. Have earned a degree in commercial arts and had two successful businesses which I eventually sold and retired from. Children are all grown and on their own and i have a nice home in Florida all paid for. Yes, I now truck and my wife enjoys riding along with me from time to time as I have a beautiful marriage.#

It's all in the mind set... I'm not sure I would jump right into a new adventure right away, at least allow your head to clear, and what I mean by that is give yourself some time to adjust to a drug free world, you don't want to move so quickly only to face failure. I have worked with several companies and to this date, no one has ever taken a hair sample... just a small cup, head to the bathroom and don't flush the toilet. As far as drug dealers finding you while you're out here on the road, that's the dumbest thing I have heard in a short while. You keep to yourself and no one out here bothers you. If they do just simply tell them to walk the other way. It never goes any farther than that. For those who tell you that confrontations get out of hand, it's because they don't know how to handle or carry themselves out here... simply put, these people are just looking for trouble and it's easy to see who those individuals are and easier to avoid them all together.#

I loved my pot too, and to this day will have dreams that I am smoking and partying and swear I just awakened with a high. Just remember, if you want to make any accomplishments in life, there is no room for pot. One thing that lot robs you of is the ability to focus clearly and there is no way I could have done some of the things I did in the past if there was any pot still left over in my system. No matter what some of these clowns on here may tell you, trucking safely and incident free takes a clear head and lots of focus. You can't get all raveled every time someone cuts you off and know when to back off in heavy traffic situations. Jumping right into a commercial vehicle so soon after you quit smoking pot doesn't make a lot of sense to me, I would at least make sure I no longer had any left over desires of being or getting high anymore and that my friend doesn't happen within a few weeks.

You seem to reference what the industry wants and what you can and can not do. It's very obvious that you live in the drug world. It's also very obvious that you lack the mental capacity to understand on what people are telling you here. There's absolutely no room in the trucking industry for a drug addict that is counting just 4 days from when you got high. People that have used in the past and driving trucks talk about months and months of sobriety and are serious about staying straight. Not like in your case were you have established without a doubt that you are a joke wasting our time. Come back when you have enough days without using that there will be no worries about any kind of tests. But then again you'll need to be trained and I can see some problems there. I'm done.

Great point gashauler. What happens when his trainer is trying to tell him and he argues. 7% downhill grade and his trainer tells him what gear/speed to go down in and he thinks ill do it my way. Burning up the brakes? Runaway ramp? I feel for his potental trainer.
