First, they have plenty of money to give politicians, so your arguement that they cannot help others is moot.

OTR a lost cause? Remember that next time you want a fresh salad or fruit.

They have plenty in common with OTR companies, case in point Schneider Transport is IBT. So much for the "small" company theory.

What industry do the Teamsters represent? Or do you even know?

a couple of choices I am familiar with. Terminal Trucking in Concord voted the IBT in several years ago. The IBT negotiated a contract that got them less benefits and basically the same pay. The drivers voted the IBT out a couple of years later. Same thing happened to Cardinal Trucking, an offshoot of Carolina Freight.

they represent a lot of industries in trucking that are mainly local driving any more. otr drivers want to organize? they get to get it together, the teamsters arent interested enough to waste a lot of money on it.

you seem to think that since i'm young, i dont know. thats fine, i don't mind. but I will tell you, i started out at Werner Ent. not knowing anything about trucking, and now i work for a company you have never heard of making prevailing wage, going home every day at 5, and getting great insurance for free with a pension. I have hauled auto parts, loaded rail containers onto chassis, ran up and down a food service ramp, in all sorts of weather, with a union card in my pocket. I have learned more and made more with it. You can tell me all the downsides, and perhaps you are right on some of them. but i have tried it on both the union and non union side, and i will choose to work union whenever possible.

represent more than just trucking interests. Maybe you should research it before talking about it.

As for OTR, yes, it is applicable in many ways, Hoffa Sr. organized everyone back in the day.

I have worked Union and non-Union, and honestly have no preference either way. I do believe that Unions of today are i ot for nothing more than money and power, and would sell the rank and file down the river in an instant though.
