the only times i've been called and woken up during my break were when they needed me to rescue a load and i didn't already have a load for the next day.

I drove for SNI and probably shouldn't have left. My dispatcher out of Portland is one in a million. Just plain everything you'd want in a DBL. I was a newbie (still am really) and I took every load thrown at me without a complaint. When I needed time home, i got it 99% of the time. When I wanted the miles, he got me the miles. I was western 11 but any chance to get mileage they would send me east if I was up for it. I left SNI because my daughter is due in December, so I went to conway ltl, so far its been a mistake. I would want nothing more then say going intermodal for sni. I miss the orange.

If this is true, and he can prove it, he may have a law suite, but he better be able to prove it, law enforcement cant interrupe your rest period.

To resurrect a thread that looks to have died down....
To head off the problem of calls / interruptions on my 10 hour breaks, I send in a Qualcomm message that says:
Starting my 10 hour break: <time>
Will be available / ready to roll: <time>
The company I just left actually had a MAC for this as well. Once you entered the MAC or sent a message notifying them that you were starting your 10 hour break, they were not ALLOWED to call you unless it was a dire emergency.
I did have one dispatcher who ignored that rule...so every time he'd call during my break, I'd document it on the Qualcomm. They finally gave me another dispatcher and ole Pa Bell was invited to take a hike (by the company...don't know if it was related to this issue or something else).
"Law enforcement can't interrupt your rest period"????
You owe me a keyboard...you just made me blow Pepsi all over mine.
Try parking on the shoulder of the entrance or exit to the rest area just north of Austin (in Georgetown I think?) and see if the PoPo-man doesn't roust your butt out and make you leave....HOS be d***ed.
That is a video I'd pay good money to see on YouTube - "Oh, I'm sorry officer...but you can't MAKE me move....I'm on my 10 hour break."
WAHAHAHAHA!!!

over 7 years with sni and only time i've ever been called was when i didnt respond to a qualcomm message after several hours but that was after they had sent several call me msgs.

Werner did all the time! On your 10 and quallcom would all ways go off for you and you can't turn them down. then you can't get back to sleep.
-
at schneider we can turn down mcp200 volume and will never hear the thing only see the light flash. and law enforcement can wake you up but can't make you do anything that requires you to log as on duty or driving if your 10 hour is not complete.

USXpress is worse yet.... get called and messaged for job related issues that I would have to say NO to, since I am on my 10hr break. Get called a lot while driving but, all this is done by support shift,,,worse yet!
