Say hi to Santa Clause for you. Check. I'll look around. I finally saw my old trainer from 2008 Wayne W. I've been watching for him for a while. He remembered me he was like "Hey, Joe with 3 kids under 3, how's it going?" I had to tell him that was no longer accurate and that in September I'll be Joe with 5 kids 5 and under (oldest is almost 6).![]()
Ill be going to Roehl soon...

WOW, you gettting your ole' lady knocked up everytime you go home or what? lmao -
I am scheduled to start rdtc on august 15th. I have a prehire letter but have heard that Roehl doesn't really hire drivers from New York. Also, I have heard that you have to hold your WI cdl for six months before transferring to ny. My recruiter said that they do have my drivers from ny, and as long as i am keeping residency in ny I can transfer the cdl. So if any of you are out there, I wanted to know if you had any trouble transferring the cdl over to ny. If so I want to apply for a passport as Roehl requires the ability to travel to Canada. I just don't want to waste my time.

Did you put your zipcode in the hiring map thing on the website? If they are not hiring from your area that would tell you. As for the prehire, you did tell them where you live right? I don't know why they would not hire out of New York, we travel through there all the time, unless you live in the extream far northern areas up by canada, you should be fine. You have listed that you live in or near Albany, and I have trained several students from that area, so you should be fine.
Shotsjc Thanks this. -
Albany should be fine, I had a handful of flatbed guys out of there over the years. It works pretty decent (or it did) for home time. Get used to NYC deliveries.

Ok...I just got off the phone with the DMV in Wisconsin...took like 15 minutes to get someone...not as bad as ny...that took me almost half an hour...what happened was that someone on this forum said u have to hold an out of state cdl for six months before transferring it over to ny...same person said that roehl doesn't hire out of ny....I called ny DMV last week and the confirmed the 6 months so I, being a former car salesman, thought perhaps I was getting swindled into going to rdtc with no real job at the end of it.
My recruiter had said I would get a Wisconsin cdl when in actuality I aren't...the Wisconsin DMV explained that Roehl is a third party tester and that I would get a certificate that I can take to ny to have them issue the actual cdl licence.
I was just being paranoid. I knew my recruiter sounds too nice to be that devious. Lol. Ahhh, car sales and being from NYC will do that to a person. Lol.
I do live up in Albany, and I did the zipcode thing before I ever called Roehl. I am supposed to haul flatbed nationally. I really want to run all 48 states and funny, I said to my wife last night that I really want to go into NYC with a big rig. I learned to drive stick shift in NYC but I suppose it'll be a bit different hauling a flatbed. Lol. At least I can call my brother and meet him for lunch in the city. He is a NYC fireman in Harlem. I miss NYC pizza! Lol.
Thanks for the feedback though...I was getting nervous...remember though...just because your being paranoid doesnt mean they aren't out to get you! Lol.Meltom Thanks this. -
anyone who works for Roehl flatbed or curtainside should be ready for NYC, my average was about every 10 days or so... It is one of the more wonderful parts of working for Roehl. If you live out here in PA, NY or NJ we get even more of it, lucky for us...

hello, I do not mean to just jump in but if you do not mind I noticed that this is somewhat of a new thread. I am sitting in Gary, In and tomorrow I am suppose to find out who my trainer will be and when I can expect to meet up with said trainer. I was just wondering how you guys are liking it, and how are the miles so far? By the way I know that it is the wrong thread but how about that old red van that we use to go from the hotel and back. I think there maybe better vehicles in the junk yard right next to the terminal maybe someone in the higher places could see if they could trade it in for one that they already crushed, I think it maybe an improvement.

you'll have to let us know who your trainer ends up being. We'll pass judgement for you so you can just relax and learn from whomever you get.
