I have PC Miler and I used Xcel Spreadsheets to do my IFTA quarterly reports.
After 3 years....hmmmm.... let's just say that you should keep track of the state mileage on a per trip basis ????

I was a local company driver for the past 2 and a half years never had to due any ifta requirements... I've only been over the road driving since august 2010 and I paid for my 1st quarter to be filed wanted to know how i can due it myself and learn something in the process. is pc miler free do i need to sign up for it? is it a online based software program...?

I paid for mine years ago...Version13 only. But I kept track of my miles. As far as filing, it's easy to fill out the forms. Just follow the instructions and you'll find it easy enough that you won't have to pay someone to do it.
For this time, just use an Atlas and figure it out is all I can say.VOLVORADIO780 Thanks this. -
Check and see if Microsoft Streets and Maps gives you mileages ?????

You will just have to look at each trip with an atlas and recreate it as far as I know. I've never used PC Miler. I hear it's pretty expensive to buy now.
For future reference, there are truck specific GPS now that make this easy to track. The other means is to record mileage as you cross each state line.
Maybe someone will come on with a better way to recreate this.

I would say the easiest way will probably be to recreate the trip the best you can then put it into Google maps. Afterwards see what city your cross the state line in and the do a get directions request on the maps using multiple points putting down each crossing it will tell you the mileage between each point. Afterwards add up all you miles traveled and figure up how many gallons of file it would take to run them and compare that to what you purchased to make sure you are not coming up with some off the wall numbers. If you have a good memory and can remember what roads the trips crossed over on you can simply zoom in on the map unfilled you can pinpoint the crossing then right click and get directions. Ensure that the directions follow the route you took pretty close if you don't know Google.maps that well then be aware thY you can click and drag the route it gives you to make your own route.

Grab your log book and recreate the trips as others have suggested. Bet this won't happen again!
I use a spreadsheet on my netbook to enter mileage. In the truck, I have a little pocket notebook where I write my mileage, start to finish, each day, including mileage when I enter another State. Some guys use micro-recorders and voice record their mileage so they don't have to fidgit with writing while driving.BigJohn54 and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -
Get a truck specific GPS and never worry about it again. Might also try searching for the online IFTA services. They may have way that you can enter city, state of each trip and give you mileage.

This is what I use-the basic program, which calculates state-by-state mileage, is free.
