That's exactly why I posted....I think O/O's for CRE are probably mythical creatures....:biggrin_2559:. They exist at Swift...I've found some! :biggrin_2556: Perhaps corneileous is right about them not posting for the reasons he stated....:biggrin_25521:

You want a company that pays percentage not mileage.

If what Bill says is right 1.40 minus .60 FSc is .80 cpm. That's book miles so minus 10% error and that's .72 cpm which is what a good company driver should be paid nowadays.

Don't screw yourself just because hundreds of other wannabes are screwing themselves.

I think last week I saw CRE had .48 on FSC and paying .90-.92 on mileage. No matter how you work the numbers, you have to look at gross pay per mile first and then break it down. Because if it ain't there on gross, nothing else matters.

i was just basing off the .90 cents per mile.

it cost my truck .70 a mile in fuel alone. give or take a penny.
then you have all the other payments to factor in. even if you outright owned the truck. you still got insurance and yearly permits and fuel tax and all that jazz. the only thing you DON'T have is a truck payment.

so basically you have .20 for truck and personal bills.

Even if the truck is paid off you need to factor in replacement cost. Show me someone who says their cost of operation is less than 1.30 CPM - 1.70 CPM and I'll show them what they forgot to include. Wages, taxes, replacement and return on investment are all valid costs.

Landstar is a percentage lease. Compare some percentage leases.

I would be cautious leasing to a companny that has its own trucks. You are competing for loads with your carrier, and when times are tight and they have their own bills to pay...

    YMMV.

OK, I did the O/O thing at SWIFT. It cost me a minimum of .85cpm just to move the truck.

I just threw up in my mouth! I can't imagine that a company that manages its company driver and L/O operations so badly would be any different in the O/O dept. It's one of those times when if it looks like a turd, smells like a turd, it's probably a turd. Why gamble on CRE when there a proven O/O companies? MCT, JCT, Lanstar etc

I was also going to bring up the OOIDA suit against England. England lost big, and now the courts will decide how much they are going to have to shell out to make restitution. I wouldn't even consider them. They shafted O/O once and tried to get out of it. That is all a person needs to know.
