Falisfy or log a violation?

    What is it that you think what has already been posted isn't "truthful?"

    How are you logging those "hours on end?" In many (possibly most) circumstances time spent waiting to be loaded/unloaded can be legally logged on line 2, or even line 1 under the appropriate conditions. Your carrier may not necessarily allow it though.

    Ronin, I never claimed to be a saint! LOL The situation I was referring to in this statement was in logging the violation and using the rules to benefit myself against a dispatcher. Which gave me four days of relaxation away from said dispatcher.

    Using the rules to your favor I have no problem with, they're written to such a way that it lends itself to cheating. This is why I like the eLogs, no more rounding your 15's to get a bit further during your day. It is what it is.

    i am a firm believer in the "you gotta do what you gotta do theory" but remember this if you dont know what your doing then DONT DO IT!!!!! simple log book fudging is a science not something that should be toyed around with especially if your new

    I've done both, either way, eventually it will come back to bite you. Personally, I'll log a violation and let the chips fall where they may. Years ago, I ran Denver to Idaho Falls, 10.5 hrs ea. way. Took my 10 off, well, actually, I took 8 off. Took a shower, ate, did my paperwork, went to bed. About 5 hrs in, I woke from a bad dream and couldn't get back to sleep. Rather than lie there and twiddle my thumbs, I was only 2 hrs from my customer, I figured I'd drive it. Besides, the two scales between the truckstop and the customer were never open. Lucky me, that day, the one in MT. was open, and it was my lucky? day for a Level III. He looked at my log, looked at me, asked if I had anything to say, I explained it to him. He didn't fine me, write me up, he parked me for 1.5 hrs. He said had I lied to him or tried to cover it up, he would have fined me and shut me down even longer. Sometimes, logging the violation and letting chips fall is better than lying about it.

    So Meltom, have you got the dispatchers and planners straightened out yet? It's kind of hard when the shipper sets the appointments with no clue where the drivers logbook is at.

    I can't count the times you run out of hours when you check in the receiver and have to show going into the sleeper. Yet you are on the dock and have to check out 3 hours later and get kicked off the property only to have to find somewhere to park when your logbook says you are in the sleeper.

    When the shipper calls the appointments, it's hard to comply. I guess there has to be alot of relays or rescheduling to make things work legally. End result, the drivers miles drop.

    Unless one can get the shipper, planner, dispatcher and receiver to work together, the driver gets stuck in the middle and is the one that gets in trouble. Maybe elogs will make some of these big companies get their head out of their arse. :)

    I've been threatened with $400 fines if I didn't make delivery after hours. What do you do there?

    With ELogs, the company knows exactly where you stand with the HOS, by the second. No excuses for them...they have to comply.

    I dont do anything, and I mean ANYTHING, my liscense cant handle....roger? I don't care what the company says.. my liscense, my call...

    I know. I'm just saying what goes on out there. Some companies will bend over backwards to kiss the shippers ***, even if it means cohersing the driver to do it.

    Times are slowly changing.
