I just learned a neat tip for cooling down a reefer quick. If your temp is supposed to be. Minus 10 and they wont load till you have trailer precooled, set the temp for minus 11. It wont go into. Defrost mode till you turn it back to minus 10. Got that tip from the lady behind the counter at Mesa Cold Storage. I did it and the trailer cools a lot quicker.
Lady K Thanks this. -
Can someone please give me some information on Central Refrigerated and there home time? Are they one of those companies that try to keep you as far from your hometown as possible? Will they honor home time request if put in within reasonable time? Will they allow you to take your 34hr restart in your near home?
-
Home time is 1 day for every week out max 4 days off. No they don't try to keep you away from home. But if you don't live near a main shipping lane it may seem as if they do. A 34 near home all depends on where you are when you need it if you are near home and take a 34 even if you don't need it, it will depend on your dm as to if they complain or not.
-
Well I live in NC, does Central have very many shipping lanes that come through here, or near here? How far will they allow you to dead head to get home?
-
I have been to north Carolina a far amount. It depends on how close to I-81 you are. That is the main run and I-40. I know of several places without having to go back into my records. As for deadhead home. Company they try to get you as close as they can. I have a former student that was sent 250 miles to get home. As an o/o they are less concerned but if you push to get a ld close they will try. It just all depends on freight.

how about pittsburgh,pa which is just north of RT-70
