I was wondering what the trick/secret might be to tighten these switch plates (round ring nut in the center) w/o marring the actual plate?
I found a 12pt socket that works great on the ring nut but it will marr the finish on this plate....
Anyone have any thoughts?

Put some scotch tape or masking tape on it might do the trick.
Hanadarko Thanks this. -
I use a flat screwdriver. The nuts I have are slotted. They don't need to be crazy tight.

They actually make a screw driver for these. Looks like a pitch fork with just 2 prongs. Kind of hard to find. A machine shop can make you one pretty quick and easy

I figured as much....with the switch lever in the way, my only thought was a 12 point tall socket used gently....

Ya know, I just remembered another tool you can buy cheap. It's one to take the cover off a watch to change the battery. They are adjustable and have 2 pins.

That works on the chrome nutz - for the OEM 12 point, I ended up using a 14mm 12pt socket and it worked fine.
Thanks guys...
