So I'm guessing you weren't too happy?

Time away from home would be good for me right now.

My wife makes plenty it's not about the money.

I don't need respect. Could care less what people think.

What may not be ideal for you may be perfect for some. I appreciate your insight Dave.

I heard that you can hear the rumbling from Niagara Falls from 20-30 miles away, depending on the temperature and humidity that determines how well sound travels through the air.

One time I delivered to a place about 7 or 8 miles away, as the crow flies. But the only rumbling I could hear was coming from the 15-20 reefer units screaming away while backed into the docks, providing free refrigeration for the warehouse while absolutely no unloading was going on.

Another option may be to rent a car if you are doing your 34. My daughter has been with me this summer and has had her swimsuit the whole time hoping against hope to go to a beach for the first time in her life. I was near the end of my 70 when they offered me a load to St. Pete. When I was empty I went to the TA on the east side of Tampa and Enterprise came and picked us up. We went to the Florida Aquarium where she got to put on a wetsuit, mask, air tank and swim with the fishes. Later we went to Pass-a-grille beach. I used to live in the area so I was also able to go around to many of the places I would go to back then. Honestly though I would have just sat in the truck if I didn't have someone to share the fun with.

Point is that if you have time, there is a way to get where you want to go. Some drivers put a small motorcycle or bike on the catwalk.

I know Enterprise picks you up but will they drop you off too?

I see a lot of country in Nebraska every night.

Regardless I've still seen things I would never have gotten to see were I still sitting in a cubicle like my last job.

Plan trips using secondary roads instead of the interstate.
A weekend off 5 miles from the falls you could have found someone to split the cab fare, or walked. The average person walks 6 MPH.
You get to see more from "the office" than most. Many save a year or more for a weeks vacation.
It is after all a job.

Enterprise picks you up and drops you off. I don't know about others, but the location on 50th St. at exit 3 off I-4 deals with truck drivers all the time. For those of us that are cash customers they wave the proof of residency. They just require a $200 deposit, the rental fee and two references. When they were taking my daughter and me back we had two other drivers going to Freightliner to pick up their truck in the car with us.

I am not a truck driver yet and I expect this reality. However it will give me an idea of how good the interstate roads are, how far it really is, and if it is a city worth visiting on my free time.
