I have the TA shop writeup, and I'm typing it verbatim:

"Driver complained of whine when under load, checked all air to air hoses and clamps, found 1 bad clamp and replaced. All other clamps and hose seem good at this time."

So they didn't specify which specific clamp they replaced.

Yes it was just an intercooler pipe clamp, you know the blue or red rubber pipe that joins the aliminium pipe from turbo to intercooler or cooler to intake.

Shouldn't be related to the problem you having.

I had the truck towed to the Freightliner here in French Camp. The engine itself looks okay, so I know I didn't crack the block. They're saying the turbo needs to be replaced (obviously) and the exhaust needs replacing, as well. No way they can clean all the oil out of it. Also, the condenser has to be sent out and cleaned up. Looks like a three-day job if they have all the parts in stock.

Condenser, I'm geusing that's what I know as an intercooler, it cools the air on its way to the motor from the turbo.

I didn't think of that, I've heard of motors (like the older powerliner engines in merc's for eg) running away because of that hot oil going in through the air intake and the motor will rev untill it pops.

So good idea to get that cleaned. Any one know if the motors of today can still do that?

OK. I'm back in the hotel after clearing with my company what needs to be done to get this truck running.

New turbo, exhaust, flex pipe. They're sending the condenser to get it cleaned and brought back to the dealer. The truck is also being steam-cleaned to get the oil off the wheels and the chassis.

Wow, that's nasty! I believe your only chance is to block the air intake but consider the job that will be and the time frame I don't know what chance you have.

Five days after the turbo decided to take a crap, I'm still in the hotel, waiting for truck to get fixed. Actually, we were waiting on my company to ship the parts from Arkansas to California. I'll be here until Monday.

    I hate sitting.:biggrin_25518:
