Hi, im a rookie trucker who hasnt driven since 99. I lost my job in an auto plant after 10 years due to closure. I decided to go back to truck driving. I have almost all of my endorsements. My question is..which companies out there hire rookies? I sure would like to meet a trucker friend on line who could give Big Steve some advice. Thanks.
Rookie needs experience

Most of all Mega carriers,Swift,Werner,Prime Inc,Tram Am,but all going to tell you to take a refresher course or go threw trucking school again.

You might get a chance with a small company. You will just have to call around and try. A few companies might take you with a refresher course. All the starter companies that do most of the hiring will want you to train again.

oh boy...don't you need to learn how to drive First? And no, you don't learn how to drive in "cdl school." You learn how to pass a test.

Ok, and now go down donner at 79000lbs when it's raining (no jake) without smoking your brakes. There's more to driving a truck than reciting the static air loss test. I'm not downing your accomplishments in cdl school...rather trying to make you understand that there is more to driving a truck than what you are thinking there is.

...ok. Good luck to ya.
