The reason is some here who were asking questions before they went to training, completed and recently gone solo, now want to be the resident experts on Central but often supply the wrong answer so the departed vets have to supply the correct info since some current Central vets don't care if the correct info is posted.
Got a good laugh from 'a few dry vans' amongst other answers so keep em coming...

As far as I know, the flatbed operation is still doing some work, but the guys that run it live in or around slc, and all had experience before coming to central. There are at least 100 dry vans out there, just most of them are sitting at a coors facility somewhere. And, I too would recommend for any solo driver who does not ever plan on training to stay solo, but I know someone will sign the lease on our truck as we turn it in. We are going to soon be one of those former drivers correcting info, as we have gotten our new to us truck.

Ok thanks for the info on Flats... I'll worry about them at a later time.. Just ready to get my new career started and get out there with the real working Americans.. Can't wait.... Oh BTW, CRS does have a referral program... If you refer a new driver.... $400.00 so befriend a newbie.... It might be worth it....

Good question.... something I need to know also

We had around $700 for the fees, cdl, and food for that first bit until we got the money on the comdata. We ate as cheap as we could. As a couple we were sort of in a different circumstance. I cannot speak for the solo rooms, but I do believe they are discussed within this thread. Once we got in the hotel, we had use of a fridge, so that helped as well. Of course that was all 2 years ago.

Can someone explain the work well test to me? Here's the question i am looking for an answer for - I have never driven a manual transmission. I know at most schools, this is alright and will be part of your truck driving curriculum. Is shifting a manual a requirement in this test and something that will get me sent home or will I be given the opportunity to learn?
-
The workwell test is lifting weights, walking, stand on one foot, climbing etc. They will give you a chance to learn to shift. We had several who could not shift well to begin with, and then they went in a different truck where they had more individual attention. However, you do have to learn quickly as everything is taught quickly.

Oh ok I shouldn't need all that and not working right now its gonna be hard to get my hands on that amount of money. Don't you receive a training check after the first month?
