Drive a company truck with antennas mounted on mirrors. Was on a tight road in Ohio and tree branch sticking out a tad too far and snapped off psgr side antenna. SWR is now at 3. Is this just a matter of replacing and recalibrating? Is it out of whack because when set up for dual antennas, two must split the load? Maybe not correct terminology but...
Thank you
Snapped an co-phased antenna

Yes the load is split and without the 2nd antenna your match will be high.
You should be able to find a antenna and replace ir. -
Roger that, figured it was that simple but wanted to be sure. Much appreciated.

Bought a pair of 4 ft Francis antennas and it's still reading 3. This is the internal SWR meter, don't have an external. The antenna light is not glowing either. Ideas?
-
BORROW a SWR meter and check that reading again.reeb7 Thanks this.
-
Should I buy the meter with the two separate window readings or is the one with one window enuff? $10 difference.

Here is a $20 meter on 144 Mhz NOT 27 Yes many work that well that they even work on VHF ....
As for one or 2 meters BOTH should work just fine ....Attached Files:
