I wonder how long before the OP starts a new thread asking about drug testing and whether he can pass before getting a driving job...

Are you kidding?? The first one ruined him. He won't be near a truck the rest of his life.

Who's there? -
Don't forget the ECM also collects everything done prior to the wreck!
Depends on the year model as to whether it does all of that fancy dandy stuff... a guy in safety at CRE was trying to claim that a 1993 Grand Am's ECU/PCM could record speed, rpms, brake application, etc... and sent some CRE driver to prison after an accident...and that's not correct. It wasn't until 1996 and the OBD-II systems that a PCM could snapshot record any engine info... and the PCM has nothing to do with brake application.
He wanted to argue, I declined, but looked up the info to support my argument... and told him to try not to sell his BS stories to someone who knows better... it hurts his credibility.
That guy's name came up in another thread... Larry Luke... he claimed that he "borrowed" a CHP radar gun and was hitting CRE trucks with radar and firing drivers for going over 10 mph in the Mira Loma yard.
I asked him when he did that (this was in 2009)... he said it was 2008.... I explained that CHP hadn't used a Hawk system since 1996, and used LIDAR and laser since then.... so they hadn't had a radar gun in inventory for 12 years. Then, he started tellign more lies... you know, those 3-4 lies you have to tell to cover up the first one?
Sorry, long day, I'm rambling. -
I thought OBD-II was post '94, not that it makes any difference in your post.
-
No, '96... '94 was the switchover for R12 to R134a, and that was also a major deal.
-
Okay. I remember the R12 to R134 switch.

Hmmmmmmmmmm... His very best friend, probably his "Good Buddy" too !!!

They're coming to take me away, Ha-ha
They're coming to take me away, Ho-ho
Hee-hee-haa-haa
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see those
Nice young men in their clean white coats and
They're coming to take me away, ha-ha!
To the happy home
With trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket-weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away, ha-hahaha...
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see.....
(lyrics by Dr. Demento)wicked Thanks this. -
I know that the radar guns were available, maybe at police auctions, about five years ago, because we used one at a private adult soap box race.
Or maybe someone just stole one out of a police car. It was kind of an eccentric group of people.
