I'll have to ask. Unfortunately, grandpa has one of those electronic typewriters and that is the newest computer type thing he will own. It is in nice shape though.

I got an 85 that doesn't have a single rattle or squeek, drives like a dream. Trucks don't wear out parts and pieces wear out, change them or tighten them as the case may be and keep on trucking. Keep the entire thing clean and do your own grease jobs so you can look and feel of anything that needs replacing before it becomes a major issue. Get to know your truck and do all the work yourself that your ability and knowledge will let you do, no matter what year.

How old a truck would I own? Does an oxcart count?

Just drove in with a nice big load of blocked firewood in one of our early 70s M35a2cs. My newest is a 99 Pete 379.

Age isn't the right question.
Price range and maintenance should be the deciding factors. -
I think Big R still has a few of those old orange cabover ford six wheelers for local P&D. Relegated to yard duty nowadays.
These local log haulers out here still run a bunch of old sixties and seventies big block gas job ten wheelers. The trucks look as good as they did over 30 years ago.
As long as the truck can efficiently and safely do the work, what has age got to do with it? -
When I have JOB SEEKERS show up looking to see if we have an opening , I point to the Mack R model when they ask what truck they would be starting in.
sure weeds them out in a hurry

I love old trucks, really wanna learn twin stick. The build quality and reliability of the older trucks is amazing compared to most of these plastic fantastics they make nowadays. And I would love to drive an old Mack R, or a Superliner, my first truck was a Mack CH and I fell in love...
