The elog is recording what you should have been on paper.

We'll leave the falsiification of taking break out of it for now. But it is not like elogs cover different HOS or something. Sounds like you used to do a lot of "adjusting" to both have it easier and push a little ove the line. Those days are gone much like the unregulated split sleeper because people could cover violations and dock time with them. Same thing with paper logs, way to easy to falsify.

12000 to 14000 miles a month or nothing.. IF IM ON THE ROAD IM RUNNING ILL FART AROUND WHEN I GET HOME... you guys that are all about compliance and rules that some idiot dreamed up can use EOBRS if you want to.. im all about doing whats right.. sleep when im tired and run when im rested.. Ive driven over 2 million miles and have never even had a speeding ticket or violation of any kind.. Ok im lying, I got shut down in michigan for hauling an oversize load in the snow( i was trying to find a safe place to park) the nice officer escorted me to a great place, A home depot parking lot, and I got a mudflap ticket in colorado once.. thats it...
I drove 264000 miles in 18 months when i was younger and my wife and i were trying to get ahead in life, i wore my self out, i had just turned 21 years old had a baby boy on the way. I was trying to get ahead only making 21 cpm driving for some greedy Montana company, and also pay for my moms funeral. I told my self i would never run that way again, and i never have.. its all about common sence. I like the HOS we have but the EOBR thing cmon we all know what thats all about..

It takes 1 time and only 1 time to have an accident.

Most drivers are now charged with VOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER if the accident happened while you were out of hours and you just happened to injure the other party. and SECOND DEGREE MURDER CHARGE if the other Party died.

Still don't care about HOS rules and compliance ?

Well... within the bounds of the HOS and we aren't allowed to drop trailers just anywhere... yeah, we can enjoy life a little. Maybe you should come over to our side!

Well, Rocks, when someone else owns the equipment, they can pretty much set the rules. The carrier I am with wanted to put some limits on O/O when they started using EOBR's. But after convincing them that I would contact my youngest son, who works as an IRS agent, regarding these restrictions on personal owned equipment and how that might violate IRS regulations regarding independent contractor classification, the carrier immediately had a change of heart. Regs are a pain, but they sometimes can work to ones advantage. Now no restrictions on use of line 5 to do personal stuff, as long as there is no conflict with FMCSA regs.

There is a Line 5 provision for company drivers. My company had me sign a policy agreement to activate it. I can go to Line 5 or OD on-duty driving, it shows On-duty Line 4 and cannot be edited. If I am empty and need to move the truck to go to walmart, I send in a message to dispatch and log it as line 5. they give us 1 hour per day if needed and must have hos available to use it.( cannot break a sleep birth period) It pretty much documents you are moving. as long as the company is aware there should be no problem. It's there truck!

This weekend my better half and I took three days off got a hotel and parked the truck, she asked me to take her to the Mall, I told her call a cab! C-YA
