I have to admit, I'd be rather upset if I found out a new driver was given a brand new truck. Drivers who've been with the company and proven that they are safe and take care of their equipment should be awarded with new equipment.
-
Don't quote me on this but really I don't think they even look at history and it is what's there when a guy is going out.
-
I think you are right... I have seen guys with lots of experience and great records drive 600K+ trucks off the lot and noobs with 0 miles drive a brand new truck off the lot. I agree you should have to prove yourself before you get a new truck. The guys with miles should get the new trucks oldest first, then working their way back. Just my opinion...notezbngrn71 Thanks this.

I bet they have some kind of method. Maybe drivers with old trucks will get more miles. I don't really know what I'm saying. Just that I have been driving a school bus for the past 2 years. The rural routes get the oldest buses. They told me they didn't want to run up miles so fast with their new buses. Less miles meant more value on the bus. Helped the company bottom line.
I do know the owner was really picky with his new buses. He made a fuss about little dings. I had a rural route so my bus was worn out. When it rained it leaked down my back. The owner didn't care about scratches and dings with those buses.
If it's the same at Roehl maybe it's best to get an old truck. As long as it doesn't break down. -
Take my word for it Roehl is very picky with all the trucks new and old. If you take a truck in for service and there is a scrape or ding, that was not accounted for on the truck assignment form, they will take pictures, and you will be having a sit down with your FM and FOM at least. In trucking they seem to do the opposite, they usually try to keep the higher mileage trucks closer to home, that way if something breaks they are more likely to be close to a terminal rather than having to get something fixed out on the road that is not under warranty. Anyway everyone should get a pretty new truck, because they are turning the fleet over, and it usually happens in two years or so, and they have been at it for a year now.
-
Darn. I don't, yes I said I don't need a new truck. I wouldn't care I guess but I dread the move. Lol
-
I would rather get a new truck now with zero mile on it, rather than them pull me out of a 600k truck a year from now and into a truck someone has already messed up. Its just me I am a neat freak, and the truck has to be clean...

I'll admit that I really want a new Prostar. Had one at my old company and miss that truck a lot. Smooth ride, quiet and very reliable.
-
Haha I want one too. Wish in one hand #### in the other. Wiener gave prostars out to guys when they earned their first million safe miles as a reward, because they're top of the line. But the problem with some of the newer trucks to me is the engine. I drove a brand new KW and while it's a nice truck, it doesnt pull anything like an old cat engine, so theres always a tradeoff.
