Would you do this if you were asked to?

My question is this, if you were asked to take a tractor, hook up to a stack of 3 40Ft intermodal chassis, drive them to another tractor, take a chain, attach said chain to back of chassis and front of the second tractor. Then pull the whole thing approx. 20 miles through the south side of Chicago IL, around 330pm. Would you do it?

I was asked to do this by my boss the other day, now I've only been driving for about 6 mos now and to me that seemed not only dangerous but extremely illegal. I told my boss that I didn't feel comfortable with doing it, and he was cool about it.. but still to ask someone to do that seems well.. irresponsible...

So like i said.. what would you do? would you do it?

    HELL NO!!! :biggrin_2554:

Ask him if he would do it himself! What a cretin!! Is he willing to bail you out of jail, pay for your lawyers, and get you another job when you lose your CDL?

Don't fall for stupid illegal crap like that. Reminds me of the time when this small-time carrier told me to team drive doubles with some dude from SoCal to New Jersey. I told him I did not have a Doubles endorsement. His response:

"Well, you don't really need that endorsement." I told him to drive those trailers himself, I pulled 48' flatbeds only.

He told me the night before and when I got to work the next morning... I looked at him and said "Ok.. so you want me to do WHAT today?" and he got the point and he decided to do it himself.. though he changed the way he did it and skipped the trailers... just went truck to truck.... now... that's one of the reasons i have an interview for a new job tommorow.. (don't like job hunting.. but the new job is closer to home, I won't have to rent a second place to live just for work for a "local" job) things like that make me feel real wierd about working for him..

Nope. Funny, the one company I worked for that tried to do that crap to me was when I hauled ocean containers;-) The last day I was leased to them, they tried to send me with an overloaded 20 footer into Maine (hint: it wasn't just a "few" pounds over). Ya, right. I left the trailer in the yard, put a goodbye note on the paperwork, and bobtailed home.
