We have a network that includes all the majors and some independents in out of the way places. One nice thing about the recent mergers, is it makes for a thinner wallet by eliminating a couple of cards. The only one you need to worry about is the Ultra One good at most TAs and Petros. They will send you that one by request, either on-line or via kiosk. The rest are handed out at the truckstops and may need to be registered. Frequent Fueler for Pilots and Js. Sapp Bros for Peru, IL (you will fuel there every time you pass it.) Loves and AMBUCKS round out the list. Vast majority of fueling, for me, at least, are TAs and Pilots.

The Truck Stops are there for 2 reasons 1) fuel the Trucks 2) Take as much cash from truckers as they can.

I thought it was to keep the lot lizards working.:biggrin_2551:

Is there a power inverter size limit? Do the trucks come with a inverter already installed?

Yeah... there are serious limits. First, there is an inverter installed with the APU, and they install an inverter on units without an APU. They're usually 1350 or 1500 watts.

I'm not sure if they'll install a larger one for you - even if you buy it. If you want something different, you have to talk to the shop about it. Installing anything on your own will certainly get a lease cancelled with penalties, and I believe it will get a company driver terminated. The reason is a completely burned-down-to-the-frame tractor a few years ago; that's the most common cause of truck fires as it turns out - do-it-yourself inverter wiring.

little more info on the sleep study thing. 39 or above you ae getting a study. 35 to 39 it is going to be looked at for other factors like neck size. I was good there but looking at my throat doc felt it was a little narrow so ordered the test. I had 6 or 7 episodes that night. So I got the machine

Been on it just under a week and waking up ready to roll. I am sleeping better in the truck than the hotel. that little hum of the APU knocks me out.

I came into this with tons of questions and thoughts. There was a lot of helpful info on these boards. Now as a student I think I can offer some sage advice.

Moving luggage on the bus trip is a pain pack light light light. On the truck every one will have a different experience. Personally i am 6 ft tall and I packed in two soft side duffles. I have them at the foot of my bed and I can lie flat out with no issues.

On packing I bought some shorts and undies and socks. now having lugged them around the bus for days I wish I would have waited until the super walmart by the hotel. I guess what I am saying is if you are going to buy something at walmart and bring it then don't unless it is needed for the bus. If you have your permit you will basically have wed off with the exception of a 1 hour class. Walmart is two blocks away nice walk and if you need to you can call the prime shuttle to come get you.

We have a fridge it is small but we work it well. Bought 25 dollars of drinks and food and have eaten all week. I did have a TS Breakfast sandwich the first morning as I really did not buy breakfast food as I don't usually eat breakfast. My trainer likes to eat out of the truck 3 or 4 days then eat at as TS.
