13 and 18 speeds

I driven them all. Some make life easier than others.Hell i learned on a 5x4.Any tranny will get the job done Period. some will poop the bed faster some make your life smoother some a child can drive.

 

You run a 600hp isx up these gradients with 60tons gross the manufacturer won't even give a warranty on that 10speed box.

Its not just about number of gears fancy pants there is more to it than that.
Go and check the facts on gear ratios, torque ratings etc etc b4 you get into this.

Thats quite funny.Ya ever driven a 5x4 ? Ive got no use for them either. But other folks love em. Go figure.How do you like em.

 

You said it. its all bottom end. An i agree.Never said their was no use for em.Most common trks dont heavy haul.I ran mine in 12 direct most of time.My friends 15 speed hauled the same loads as i did

 

True. What you actually said was "18 is for status only".

No, all I said is the 10 speed won't cut it out here and you said it WILL.
Most common truck here huals 60 ton gross and the grades are very taxing.
A ten speed does not have the balls to take the torque and abuse this country demands!
What is a 5*4 any ways?

An 18 speed is for show????? You can have all the experience in the world, if you don't have the common sence to learn from it then its worthless!

 

A 5X4 is a 5 speed main with a 4 speed aux trans. Quite common in old gravel trucks around here.
