Hello , I got a ticket in Long Beach Ca. for going down a street that says no trucks over 6,000 pounds. I did not see the sign because the street was under constuction and the sign was wired to the traffic signal too low for me to see. Is there a minimum height that the sign has to be posted ?

You'd be better off saying you had to go that way because you had a delivery that way and had no other route.

And on another note, it is quite possible that there are laws that cover this without a sign even being necessary in that city.
For instance, in Missouri in all cities and towns, the speed limit is 25 MPH except as otherwise posted.
I agree with GasHauler. His idea is probably the only defense that will stand a chance.
I'm sure there is code that dictates the placement of signs. Still that would be an "I didn't know that was the law" defense. The reply to that is always the same, "ignorance is no excuse".
Just some thoughts.GRTrucking Thanks this. -
Calk it up for experience. Explain it to the court maybe get a discount. It's like hitting a Deer in a truck. Drive enough miles your going to hit one, or you live in NYC.

Pay the ticket and move on. Fighting it will likely cost you more than they want for the ticket when you consider time off and the judge slapping court costs on you for daring to show up in an out of state court. The lesson to learn is that there are certain places you should always call ahead to find the truck route in.
telling an officier you didn't see the sign is telling him you were not doing your job before you got to that street.GRTrucking Thanks this. -
