I've gotten myself back into heavy hauling....I can operate most any construction equipment but I've never been around any combines.
In general, how wide are these things?
I know there are different sizes and all that...I'm just reading up on them a bit since that is primarily what I'll be hauling now. I'm supposed to get some training on them Monday and that will likely answer most of my questions...but I'm trying to figure out a rough idea of how often I'll need to use escorts.
I looked on the manufacturers websites and found the quote of 10' 10" for all of John Deere's models...does that sound about right?
I hope it is...because I thought they were wider than that...I'm not afraid of hauling bigger stuff, just don't want the hassle of escorts any more than necessary.
Hauling combines...how wide are they?

Its the head that makes them look so big. But that's off for transport.
-
Most of them should be under 12' and not need an escort.
-
Most are 12' wide but some AGCO stuff is 12'6" wide
-
Well...the one I got today, my very first one is......12' 6" wide and 13' 9" tall.....escorts through MO and IA.

Ridgerunner--who are you pulling for? I think the dims of this load are what you should expect for JD Combines. We are a Deere carrier, and I am not familiar with many models that would be under 12' wide.
-
Its not brand specific around here (I drive for Maverick)....this ones a Deere, next one may be a Case or whatever.
And you're right...12 to 12.5 feet wide is the norm...I know that now

Nice trailer...gotta like those slide outs. Is it yours or are you a company driver? We don't run outriggers on any of our RGNs...too hard to haul steel/tie down a tarp.

I am sorry about the error on the guestimate on the width, Ridgerunner. I have not hauled anything like that in some time. I like the outriggers on that trailer. -
Thanks....its a company trailer.
