If the doctor you went to said just treat the symptoms then you need another doctor. Do some searches on the internet for valley fever. Also check out the website http://www.vfce.arizona.edu/ for more info. A normal case of valley fever, yes you treat the symptoms and it goes away. A bad case gets treated with a whole different set of drugs. If you still have your cough and "fever" type symptoms then antibiotics are going to do nothing for you. Valley fever is not treated with antibiotics, it is a fungus and needs to be treated appropriately.
"The medications used include ketoconazole, itraconazole and fluconazole in chronic, mild-to-moderate disease, and amphotericin B, given intravenously or inserted into the spinal fluid, for rapidly progressive disease. Although these treatments are often helpful, evidence of disease may persist and years of treatment may be required." From the website above.
If you are not getting one of these drugs, then I would get a second opinion. Like I said above, I almost died from it. I was in the ER in NY and was treated for pneumonia. Once I got back to Phoenix and visited my personal doctor he recognized everything and prescribed the proper treatment. Unfortunatley I was too far along and had to go to the hospital. DON'T TREAT THIS AS ANOTHER COMMON COLD! Being in the hospital for 2 weeks, home treatments for another 2 months and follow up visits for 9 months takes a toll on the wallet.

I hope he's ok. Valley fever isn't a joke. My fiancée's mom has a friend that died from it and she treats quite a few cases of it in the ICU.

Meeting my 3rd mentor here in a few minutes...got 106 hours down so far. This guy is on the container fleet heading out of Wilmington...let's hope he's a lot better than the first guy from there!!! -

Sorry to tell you but your paycheck, being with Swift, is going to suffer for 5-6 months. Hard reality is that you will get 3-400 a week
