Before I get into the truck specs, here are my specs:
This would be a purchase for a small business I run. It would be light duty (four small race cars + misc equipment), and at first might only see 10-12 trips a year (most less than 500 miles.)
As my business grows, it might see more road time... one can only hope.
I would be cutting my teeth on this truck (so-to-speak.) I've driven some large-ish trucks, but never an 18 wheeler. Closest I've gotten might be the big International spray trucks that TrueGreen-ChemLawn uses. I also drove a 1949 Flxible bus back in my "hair band" days... but I digress.
This truck is part of a package that could really help my business grow (it's from a similar business being sold out west.) And the entire package (including trailer, 4 race cars, one support mini-van, lots of extras) seems to be priced very attractively.
Here are the specs as I know them:
1995 Volvo WIA64TTES, bunk sleeper cab
No idea on mileage
It's sister truck is a Detriot Diesel, 470hp, 10 speed and I have no reason to think this truck is not the same
Trailer is being described as a 1980/2004 Budd 48'
It's been converted to a stacker race transport set up.
I've got a VIN number if that might help someone get more info on the truck for me.

The WIA64TTES is a double bunk, I believe. I almost bought one a number of years ago. They have a lot of room and are more like a newer condo, but you would never know it from the outside of the truck. The one I thought of buying drove out very well. I don't remember which engine it had, but it seemed like it had been well maintained. We could not quite get together on the price. I believe those older Volvo's got fairly good fuel mileage. I would have it check out before buying. You can have an oil analysis and dyno done for $200-400.

Is there a checklist somewhere on these forums for used truck purchases?
I would absolutely have it checked out by a professional before buying. Especially since if I did purchase it, it would have to make a cross-country trip to get it back here. -
I don't know about a checklist, but I can give you the condensed version of what I look for when I am thinking about buying another truck. I initially look at the general appearance, especially the interior. If the interior looks fairly decent then it has probably been fairly well maintained. But, you can't count on cosmetics to determine the condition of a truck. Before spending money I would check the king pins, suspension and fifth wheel. check for leaks around the engine, rears and transmission. Check the front end for loose components. You can often tell a lot about a truck by the way it drives. Look for unusual tire wear. If everything looks good, then you may want to get an oil analysis and have someone do a dyno on the engine. A garage can connect to the truck's computer and tell a lot about it's history. If you are not familiar with trucks mechanical operation, you may want to see if the owner will allow you to take it to a mechanic to have it checked or take a mechanic with you. In fact, you could take it to a dot certified shop and pay them for a dot inspection. If much is wrong with it they should find it.
