So here is my story..I graduated from Lansing Community College's driving course last fall planning to go over the road..I got extremely lucky with my prior technical background and got hired by Meritor here in Michigan doing axle R&D not long after I graduated from driving school.
So now here I am, I have driven twice for my current job, usually because I am the only one with a CDL A and it was done when bugging trucks for problems for training purposes..Not really driving, just bobtailing down the road and back while somebody analyzes vibrations, etc...I have also spent two weekends at my sister in laws farm doing some driving...I know nobody with half a brain would simply hire me, as I have minimal experience. But I want to drive, ideally once a week or something. What type of companies should I go to looking for part time work? I am not looking to make money, would go for a few weekends just to get more experience, then when they are comfortable would work for next to nothing..Anywhere in particular I should focus my efforts? I have tried local farms, grain elevators, etc and no luck. Suggestions?
How to look for a part time driving job?

Check back with them a little closer to harvest time. I know around here, farmers are complaining about the difficulty they have trying to find part-time drivers to assist with the harvest hauling.

Thanks, gonna keep trying...Maybe the next few weeks will bring opportunities as harvest is rapidly approaching...Wish I could just find something though
