I had no trouble understanding the signs
And the detour isn't bad in fact it was easier to detour then to go through town
I have only been that route once. It was well posted.
Miles before I got to the detour I used this fabulous tool called a CB radio.
To confirm the route the detour went.
No problems.

I took that route once. Detour was full of some of the sketchiest bridges in town.
If there was any justice, someone ought to get the government to de-certify that stretch of I-95. (it doesn't meet the Federal highway standards you say?) Change I-395 in CT and I-190 in MA to the NEW I-95 and cancel their FEDERAL funding!
One Interstate in the whole state and you can't maintain it? -
I read that article after I posted. There is a bunch of lies in it. They said they been giving tickets since 2008. I got my ticket in 2009 and was told that was the third year then. And it's a flat fine now cut in half. The way I see it, they owe me $1200 now because I was fined $5400 cut in half instead of the $3000 cut in half now. The signs are also different now.
Sure all the locals know about it. They are getting the unexpecting OTR drivers that haven't been through there before or in a long time.
Again, 21,000 drivers aren't deliberately crossing the bridge. Something is wrong and the way they are going about it is crooked.
Look at Hurricane Katrina knocking out the bridges in LA. They put up temporary bridges and temporary rolling scales out to turn overweight trucks around. That's the way it should be done if they really care about keeping trucks off of Pawtucket.
They found it to be a money maker and that's all it is.
Landshark, I used the fabulous tool. Nobody would reply. And even in the article they say southbound is confusing and northbound isn't. I bet you were northbound. -
I was just wondering this as I have been thru there 10 times in the last 3 years with no confusion on the route... However, I never seem to be going South thru there so thanks for clearing that up for me.
We have a standardized message that comes thru anytime we are routed thru or near RI on our QC... warning, pleading, screaming to pay attention and avoid the bridge. -
I got my ticket in late 2008. $85 for "failure to obey a posted sign"... I was very happy, because we weighed 78,800 that day, taking a load of carpeting from Georgia to Taunton, Mass.

I'm just wondering why they haven't used the $6.9 m to fix the bridge?
-
If nothing else, I want every unsuspecting driver to know about this bridge.
Not only did it ruin my perfect record and hit the wallet. It kind of hit the pride thing.
It's nothing but a money racket josh. They said the cost is up in the $200 million range for a bridge the size of an overpass. Actually, that's what it looks like.
They've had their share of federal funding to build the bridge several times. It reminds me of a mafia operation. -
Condo
Yep your right I was headed North bound. -
"He said no, go the route on the Peoplenet."
Wait. What?
That bridge has been restricted in the Nav system since Aug 2008. Your PeopleNet BLU device would not have sent you there. -
You don't even know what you are talking about. Yes it routed straight down I-95. If I knew there was someone callling me a liar I would of took a picture for you. You're not even a trucker.
I've been run into roads that been closed for years too. I think it is 82? in NE is another one.
