hello guys since your world have lot smaller allowed weight and you often careful about payload and have everything payload optimised i wonder why no one use hybrid refrigeration system

system is quieter better for ecology lot lighter and better fuel economy

so refrigeration system is consisted only of inside unit there is no diesel aggregate outside but there is PTO mounted on truck engine/flywheel/clutch housing and electric generator with variable transmission and soft start clutch ( saves components inside of refrigeration system-so there is no huge currency and torque)

so system always make 380V and 50hz so system always have 3000rpm regardless on engine rpm

during night or while truck is stopped and system need cooling , it give signal to truck computer and make some checks like is it in neutral and is parking brake applied and than it starts truck engine use about 750rpm (average it takes 3.25L/hour -0.85gallons ) normal system use about 3.75L/hour ~1gallon)

and when temp is OK system gives signal to stop engine

also when truck is running fuel consumption is only 3-4% higher

in europe according to calculations and tests based on 120 000km per year (75000mille) conventional system use 3750L of fuel per year which is 990gallons

this hybrid system use 1200L or 320gallons of fuel per year

also when truck is stopping braking or going downhill system cools load so when this also allows lower fuel consumption

weight is less than half of conventional system

most famous manufacture is frigoblock but there are other like govers

also we have hydraulic system everything is same but there is variable hydraulic pump mounted on clutch independent PTO most famous manufacture is swedish hultsteins

Truck engines aren't supposed to run like that, emissions regulations. If this system is supplying power for a trailer, what do you do when you need to drop the trailer by itself without a power source?

i dont know about your emission regulations but comparative tests shows that truck engine used to power trailer refrigeration system is better for ecology than small engines mounted on trailers

here such systems are mainly used in heavy 40ton distribution where is a lot of braking start stop and similar things....

here in 95% of cases you will have a power supply at any spot where you have to leave trailer itself

also i if remember good frigoblock offer combination of normal unit powered by mercedes/smart CDI engine (very clean) and this hybrid system

Sounds interesting. Too many regulations are now written in stone in NA about idling trucks. Too costly to introduce plug ins all over. I don't see it working.

here noise is big problem this is one of reasons why there is so much plugins

in germany it is not allowed to use engine idling while you are parked on big parking lot because of noise to other drivers but reffer trucks have own part of parking just for them

Good luck getting the steering wheel holders to park in a specific spot just cause they have a refer.
