I recently am coming off of a 60 day suspension for speeding 6 over and being in the hammer lane which was restricted in merrellville indiana. I paid both the tickets not even realizing i had a ticket for 15 over two years ago on my regular license. well obviously i should have fought the two tickets. anyone have any advice on how i can get back in the industry

Probably going to have to work with a small company for awhile.
2 speeding tickets within a 3 year period, makes you a bad risk for a lot of the larger self insured companies. -
DOT Regs state that a person may no operate a Commercial Vehicle in Interstate Commerce with-in 36 months (3 years) of a License Suspension. But State regulations for INTRASTATE may be different.
HOWEVER; I don't understand HOW your license could be suspended for driving 6 over and lane violation. There HAS to be more there, something you haven't told us. -
probably a construction zone and/or dot inspection violation.
-
Yep, I was thinking the same, thing, probably a (gulp) fly-by-nite outfit.
Well, left-lane violations are considered major offenses, like speeding 15 over, reckless,DUI,etc. And this guy's got two major violations in less than 3 years,which carries an AUTOMATIC suspension of your CDL priviledge.
Are you saying that if I get my license suspended (for anything, like not paying a ticket or something stupid) that I then cannot drive, for another three years (even after paying to reinstate my license)? What an absolute crock of $%^#! -
There is no such thing as a "regular" license... your license is your license and it always has been. It IS common though to have some people think that there is some difference and that there something that divides them. There's not.

I thought i was clear on how this was explained. Speeding 6 over, and left lane restriction in november 2006, speeding 15 over in august 2004 in personal vehicle. 10 months into driving career it is over for at least three years now i am at home sitting on my ### looking for a bull #### job.

Yeah, that sure sucks, those left lane violations are some real BS.
I would enquire around with courier companies, since you don't need a CDL to drive a cargo van, and it keeps you driving (yes, I know it's not the same thing).
Good luck, I have been dealing with my own mistakes (too many minor tickets in a short period of time, all in my car but of course, on my license), but I'm sure you'll find some crappy company out there to keep going. -
Thats the reason the CDL is like gold these days you have to pay attention to every thing you do no matter what your in it all falls back on your record and it will ruin an other wise good carer in no time at all. So try and keep your chin up but remember this also the way most of the companies look at it. Once it all goes away in 3 years you will have to start all over again since you want have any recent driving experience. That is going to be the bad part.

Regular = Operator's License (NON-CDL)
CDL is but an endorsement, as is Air Brakes, Tanker, Hazmat, Passenger or Motorcycle
