It looks like the debate here is 50/50 either way the moral of the story is don't drink and drive.4wheelJoshua Thanks this.

Why do you care? What does it matter what someone else's motivation or interest is?
As unfortunate as that is, it has zero to do with anyone in this thread and for you to be projecting your bias on posters that have legitimate questions is distasteful.
That's your problem.
No one is suggesting otherwise. That doesn't mean that people cannot have a discussion about the topic for whatever reasons suits them; whether it be for interest, or clarification, or maybe they even have a contrary opinion.
You post implies something far different.

I'm out here on the road everyday. So is my family. It matters a great deal to me what the motivitations and interests of professional drivers are. It's why I'm a member.

I have obviously misintrepeted the focus and direction of this thread. I have obviously offended you and for that I apologize. The subject of drinking and driving is a hot topic to me. I did not mean to get out of line. I see where my post ended in a disrespectful manner. Please accept my sincere apologies. -
I commend your ability to be a man and apologize. I am sure your right there probably are some here who were in this discussion because someday it may effect them when driving after having a few. I for one can guarantee this is not the case with me. I have not drank anything in 7 years and I'm not a alcoholic. The only alcohol I use is in my spaghetti sauce and cordon bleu. I was participating in this discussion purely out of trying to correct misinterpretations. Also it became a challenge when people insisted that it was one way when I was able to search and find that they were obviously wrong.zebcohobo Thanks this.

I have followed this thread since its birth. It is not the first of its kind.4wheelJoshua said: ↑Injun I don't think you read the thread in it's entirety.Click to expand...
This argument is ridiculous. By this comparison, you are indicating a belief that there is a Constitutional right to drink alcohol and drive, and that there is a further Constitutional right to a law degree. When was the last time you read any of that dreck that flows from DC? When you understand even a single page in its entirety, please let us know.So you just give up?? I don't care if you don't drink, it's not about drinking. ..........That is like saying there is no need to understand gun laws because you will never own a gun. You are giving away your fundamental right to have a legal system that all citizens are able to abide by and understand....Click to expand...
It's actually pretty cut and dried. Don't drink and drive. Seems pretty simple to me.
All this talk about officer discretion. There are very standard FSTs an officer gives that are consistent across the board. If you fail FSTs, you blow into the little tube. Blow positive on the tube after failing FSTs, regardless of level, you are impaired.
I merely became irritated with all this hair-splitting over numbers. Who bleeding cares? If you're going to drink, DON'T DRIVE!otherhalftw and zebcohobo Thank this. -
I really don't know what your point is on this stupid you tube video. It just goes to show the public how stupid people can be. I watched the video and saw a tanker going the right direction and look like he's having some problems but clearly not going the wrong way. And how does the guy on the phone know he's hauling gasoline.123456 said: ↑Click to expand...123456 Thanks this.

Sorry I stand corrected. Somehow when he did the flip it was blocked out the first two times I viewed the video. I'm still a little confused on the video itself why it did that because the first time I went 3/4 off the way through and it did not show the truck doing a u-turn. But I still stand behind the public making stupid mistakes all the time about trucks and what they're hauling. Just not in this case, I'm the stupid one.123456 Thanks this. -
I just add a video once in while,
for entertainment value..........

I said no such thing! My statements have NOTHING to do with actions. I clearly said we have a fundamental right to understand the laws we are expected to abide by, not simply accepting LEO's and their powers of judgement. Matters of judgement belong to the court system or a jury even but not a cop. Again, how you would you feel if you reported to an officer that your daughter had been raped and it was left to a cop to decide if that really happened and if he would pursue charges or up to the cop if charges could even be pressed? That's crazy. The law and procedures must be clear, they are very clear in other matters.Injun said: ↑you are indicating a belief that there is a Constitutional right to drink alcohol and driveClick to expand...
I have NO questions about drinking and driving. I do not drink. MY QUESTION IS ABOUT THE CLARITY OF LAW. You must stop at the stop sign, the law is clear on that. Why is DUI law not clear in the matter of driving a CMV vs. POV was the question.
To say that an FST is not leaving sobriety to the determination of the officer is completely insane. Every FST is judgement from an officer and their perception of your condition. It is not a medical test, not a scientific test. In fact almost every episode of cops the officers will say something to the effect of "You can just tell by watching them" and often the odor gives it away as dieselbear stated was his typical clue.
People please quit making it a moral issue on actions. That was never the question. My question here has always been in regard to a CDL versus a standard driver license. It is not about if someone drinks or what they blow. I have tried to make that clear.

This I agree with personally no matter what is being driven CMV or POV or what status you hold DL or CDL. But it still doesn't answer to the fact that the law is not clear and there is a double standard being held in many places. I guess it's just one of those things.Injun said: ↑I merely became irritated with all this hair-splitting over numbers. Who bleeding cares? If you're going to drink, DON'T DRIVE!Click to expand...
