I'm sorry, I don't mean to make you angry, I have a great deal of respect and admiration for drivers. I only claim expertise when it comes to the Nav system and how it works.
Sometimes the Nav system is blamed when it doesn't deserve it. If it does make a mistake (it certainly is not perfect) please use that feedback feature so no other driver using it will have that same problem. It is a real time system so when a correction is made it instantly updates the maps across all fleets so no other driver using it will have the same problem.
Re: 82? in NE - I would be happy to look into it, do you know what town or near what city you found closed roads that the Nav system tried to route you on?

Not much the system IT folks can do to correct it when a driver just got a $3,000 fine... all the "we'll get it changed for the future" phrases in the world won't take that pain away.
MassHole Thanks this. -
In fairness, maybe the guy's dispatcher is using an older version of the software?
You know, I just had an idea at how we could protest this,,,,:smt077
How many hit and runs on the detour route do you think it will take before the locals decide it's not in their best intrest to let that bridge stay closed?
Run jakes all though town (especially at night) and blow your airhorn at every intersection (for safety of course!).
Knock down a few poles,,, back into a few fences,,, etc etc etc. -
The locals are already mad infosaur. I read an article about a year ago the locals wanted part of the money. They are tired of the roads and curbs being tore up. And of course the slow trucks in their way.
Lyran, I was thinking US 81 north of York. I'm not positive because truckers run so many routes and they all bleed together. Maybe it was in IA? All them cornfields look alike. But I been through that detour 3x over a year and you have to go 20 miles around the block. If you have anything to do with GPS routing, I can tell you several routes that you go through a field, where a new highway has been built in the past 10 years or so and not updated. Alot of this routing is shared info.
These fuel managers tweek the options and alter routes too.
Another one is say Springfield, MO to points south, I was taken through narrow mountain roads with curves you could see the back of your trailer
and your tires inches away from 100' drops. It was fun, but halfway through was a 12 ton bridge. That was routing that come across Peoplenet. I think it was Hwy 103 in AR. I come down through Branson and was either headed to Russelville, AR or down to Houston.

$6.9 MILLION DOLLARS IN VIOLATIONS?? Wouldn't that replace the bridge?
Sounds like it's buying A LOT OF DONUTS. -
i got hit there a few years ago. It;s def. a racket. Too many people getting nailed not to be.
-
Condo - You are 100% right and I didn't know what I was talking about. Again, I sincerely apologize for upsetting you. I should have looked at your profile to see what company you drive for and I should have done more research. I assumed you were using my navigation product on the PeopleNet box because I honestly did not know that the text based navigation from ALK is also an option. It makes sense now that you were routed on a restricted bridge in Pawtucket and it also makes sense that you would be routed on 103 in AR with its steep grades and crazy switchbacks.

If you miss the 20 or so lit up, flashing lights, blinking HUGE red letters - "$3000 FINE FOR PAWTUCKET BRIDGE" signs...
You freakin' deserve to pay a $3000 Moron Tax! Quit staring at the stupid GPS/Nav system or whatever, and drive the #### truck!!
