Was looking at taking the wife with me and routing this way just because it is more scenic than I-10 Benson-Wilcox-Bowie stretch. Anybody been this way? Any reason you felt it no good? On Atlas and GPS seems fine...
Thanks!
AZ/NM Hwy 80 in SE Arizona decent to use for trucks?

Will it be your truck or the companies truck? If it is a company truck, what is their policy on routing? What is their policy on out of route miles? How much further is it? How much more driving time will it take? How much more fuel will it use? What is Arizona's laws on their highways? Will you meet their length, weight and bridge laws on a secondary road? Are there any truck restrictions on any of those roads? Just some thoughts.

Thanks, but none of that applies in this case. No need for me to explain why not, suffice to say it is 6 of one, half dozen of the other from my starting point, insofar as routing.
The Atlas does not indicate any issues, it is more of a question of someone having already been down that road giving me their opinion. Many of you know, as well as I do, that just because a route has no restrictions and looks OK on a map, does not mean it is not a pain in the butt.
Any of you at all have any actual experience on this route? (it essentially connects Douglas, AZ with I-10 near Stein, NM)BigJohn54 Thanks this. -
Az. 80 is fine for trucks.....
Giorgio Thanks this. -
You must be going to Tombstone??
If so, the motels show truck parking. So it should be okay.
Here's a town map. You might get in the bus/RV lots?

No, just wanted to follow a slight out of route from Nogales. I know the route of 82 and it is a non issue. But rather than go North on Hwy 90 to I-10 in Benson, wanted to take a more scenic route through Sierra Vista, Bisbee, Douglas and the backside of the Chiricauhua Mountains up to I-10 at Stein, NM. Thought the wife and I would enjoy it a little more than the boring stretch of Benson-Wilcox to NM border along I-10 which we have already seen a lot of! Not too far out of route to be a problem and we have ample time for the load to take the extra 20 minutes the GPS says it will take.
