From your list, Roehl (pronounced rail) sounds like your best bet. They have a better selection of hometime options also. Most companies want you out 3 weeks at a time minimum as an OTR driver. That does not mean you can't find regional opportunities.
When I went to school, I know they asked us if we wanted to go OTR or regional, so I know there are possibilities.

You have a better chance of getting home if you hire in, let's say with a company with a terminal within a couple hours. Or atleast runs up and down your local interstate. See what trucks frequent your local truck stops or industrial park.

The posts about finding out where a companies frieght lanes are were right on the mark. If they run near your home town you may get by the house at least one night a week. At the company I started out with the guys who lived near Milwaukee and the Chicago metro areas saw thier homes almost every week. I live a bit off the major routes they used and could have been home every 2-3 weeks, but I would have taken a financial hit due the short milage week before and after my home time. I chose to stay out for 6 weeks at a time because I needed to maximise my earning potential. Not everyone has to do it the way I did. But be prepared to sacrifice some hometime if needed for a while to support your family. After you get some miles and roadtime under your belt you will come across the driving job that will get you home regularly. If it happens for you quickly ( I hope it does ) more power to ya!

Hometime ? As a rookie ? Not likely.......Too many drivers wanting hometime means big headaches for dispatchers. This is trucking, not a travel agency. BTW, Wil-Trans is a small fleet based out of Springfield, Mo. leased to Prime pulling Prime trailers.

Not likely, but not impossible. I was home every weekend right out of the gate, but that was 2003.

I agree most bigger companies want you out as much as possiable. But if you do get home time good luck. We were o/o for Swift we got our hometime request. But you have to ask for it 2 weeks in advance. I also heard from Swift company drivers that if you are on hometime for 3+ day be expected to do 2 things. 1st is take it to a terminal and 2nd totally clean out your truck. This is because when you come back off of hometime you will no longer be assigned to that truck and have to be reassign another one. Which I hear that it can take weeks. Even though that the Phoenix and Laredo, Tx terminal have trucks coming out of there ears. Laredo has over 2,000 new truck waiting to be put into service. Or waiting to be shipped to other terminal to be put into services. I also would stay away from Werner. Forced dispatch somtimes. Non friendly dispatchers. Hard time getting hometime request. I agree that there are other companies out there that can meet your needs. But I would stay away from the bigger companies. If you do go with the bigger companies I would ask to be put on a dedicated account. You may be home every weekend. But wont get the miles=money that you want if you do that. Most big companies want you to run atleast 2,500+ miles a week. Also that is if you are teams as well.

I also had hometime every weekend as a rookie. Granted you may have to do a little research but well worth it.
